This very same thing happens to me all of the time. All I have to do is reload the page, and it works every single time :-).

Here's how it happens with me: I put my password in and click "submit." Then it looks as though I'm right where I started from, and I have to put my password in again. This is where all I have to do is reload the page, and it takes me to the forum I'm trying to access :-).
