I just bought an F4 and when I was field stripping it, I took the bolt out and where the ball retaining spring hits the bolt it put a pretty good scratch in it. Is that common? The gun shoots great and have had no problems. Thanks.

I just bought a Thunder Pig 14" Barrel for my F4. Apon starting to screw it in, I found it would not go in all the way, because the reservor plug is a hair to big. If I take the reservor plug out, the barrel fits fine, but I cant screw the plug back in. Is there any way I can get around this problem? such as maybe a smaller reservor plug, if there is such a thing. I'd really like to use this barrel. thanks for any input.

I'm getting an Impulse from FerreT. He's posted a pic of his impulse on here. With money that i have (140) i know i need to get an N2 tank. But i'm debating between other stuff i want to upgrade. I'm thinking of getting a tapeworm to make it more consistent. And then i'm debating between either a blade trigger or a delrin bolt. I'm thinking of going with the bolt and then just use the stock trigger and then do a trigger mod. Please help and give suggestions.

    Thanks

  • PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT -- Nico, 21:51:26 12/12/02 Thu (216.228.4.73)
Hey yall i would like to take this time to do a PSA, and i would like yall to help me out. It might get all artsy fartsy. Its obvious this f4 board is temming with people from all walks of life with a common bond: the love of paintball. The question arises ever so often, what makes a good paintball player? I belive the question oughta be What can we/you do to make yourself/ourselves a better player. I wanna get at least 5 ways from yall, be it equipment tips, playing techniques, tactics, philosophies or beliefs to make ourselves (or the pball community in general) better as players. Long or short tips, any info will do. My hope is when Mark gets well enough, he can compille this stuff and put it under a category to share with the community. I guess ill start 1st with some of the more obvious "things "we can do.

1)Play often as you can. Financial difffulties? get a/a better job. Go as a group and split the cost. Or save up and play more conservative with your shots while focusing on movement rather than volume of fire. This will help define your playing style, and helps tailors your financial situation.

    2) Observe games when u can. Sometimes sitting out one or two games for a breather can lead to a tacticaly/strategicaly rewarding experience. Get a bird's eye or overhead view of the terrain u play on. Ref a game if ya can.

3)Help a newbie. Help a newb, especially the younger ones, out in regards to safety regulations, or playing techniques or lay some positive encouragement. The field i play is teeming with newbs that need constant reminding not to be intimdated by a players equipment. Aint nothin cooler than whatchin' a humble noob with a rental gun surreder a jerk ass vet and thanking you after the game for the advice.

4)Communicate. Before a game starts gather up your walk-ons/teamates and formulate a SIMPLE plan. Call out positions and keep up the chatter on the field. You ll be surprised how the herding mentatilty/behaiviour can work to the team advantage/disadvantage. Breif and de-breif a game.

5)Be prepared. Come to the field prepared. Bring a squeege X-tra O rings, tubes, whatever. Pballing is a great means of teaching one responsibility, preparedsness and self-reliance.

6)Be safe. Be polite and remind folks to have the safety on and/or Barrell plugs in. Gogles too, wear em at the chrono station! Dont be Nazi about it just remind em your vision is waay more valuble than their convenience.

anyway these are some of the ideas i can contibute. Help the F4OG and other Pballers some of your ideas. Thnx for your time!

I would like to see a company make a fully auto/burst fire capable gun that is fully mechanical, ie no batteries or solenoids to trip of. An mp5 trigger group would be cool, single, triple, full, safe whatever. If there is a candidate company that can do it Worr oughta, or maybe WGP or AGD maybe even Benchmark. Anyhow heres my million dollar idea that should of been done by now.

I would like to see paintball prices drop by $10

  • '01 F4 and gear for sale -- Tim, 23:55:58 12/22/02 Sun (216.127.255.252)
I havnt played paintball in nearly a year and have decided that i should sell my gear and spend the money in a better way (computer gear).

The gun it's self is near perfect. Due to a faulty venturi bolt ACI gave me a new body, and i have only played 4 or 5 times with the new body. I also went through a stage with the dremel to the valve...needless to say the valve is as new as the body because i had to order a new one.

So it has a new body and a new valve, and a new sear (that was put on by ACI for free, they said the old one wore down). And like i said all of that has only been used a few times. The two bolts however are since '01 but they are as good as new...(Gotta love that ACI tech.) The barrel is stock and the paint is sanded off so that it fades to black (i got bored...again). Nothing on the inside of the barrel was touched. So the only real problem with the gun is the trigger, i had to trim it to get a double trigger frame on it (which is still on). This was before ACI released the double trigger frame.

It is an TP so it has a low pressure chamber. however i traded a friend of mine for an expansion chamber...he was running n02 and didnt have the need for it (he got the grip i got the chamber).

I also have a 12v revolution, elbow etc. 20 oz C02 thank and a JT spectra with a clear thermal lens.

If your interested or have any questions email me at timspeciale@timmyqwest.com

I just bought a Bulldog 2 88/4500 preset system for dirt cheap, so I'm excited to get it in the mail later this week =)

Anyway, my question is about slide check valves. I know they're supposed to shut off the gas to the marker and bleed the excess so you can disconnect stuff... But for the life of me, I can't figure out how they work, or how they should be set up (which side to put to the marker/air supply, etc) and do they actually shut off the gas like a valve, or will they bleed the whole line from the cup seal to the on/off at the tank? I think the F4OG should have a diagram of a slide check setup and a little brief about their operation and use. Someone should write that up and send it to Mark to add to our already wonderful techroom section.

Anyone here have any need to know tips on how to work with it? and maintaining it (cleaning schedule/overhaul)? I got the adjustment and setting "right" (i dont have a guage) the guns not starved for air im guessing 800 to 750 psi. its a matter of chrononing the thing to get set at an fps.

What is an optimal PSI setting for the reg on an f4?

Apparently the reg needs about a 2000-3000 shot cycle to get the internal broken in and set.

What kind of FPS deviation should i xpect from it? +/- wise, when its all good to go? Im running CO2 with a 12" Lapco Bigshot. Maybe someone here has the same setup?

I'll be "out of touch" for awhile due to surgery. I go under the knife Dec. 5.

The doctor says, "No computer for most of December", but he doesn't know about my laptop!

I have a busted disc in my neck (C5/6) and I'm getting that removed and replaced by a screw. See http://www.spinetech.com/products/bakc.html. Free advice #1: Do NOT spend 16 hours each day for 20 years in front of a computer, no matter how much you like Duke Nukem. Otherwise you'll become an old fart with a bum neck.

So I'll only be stopping by from time to time, and I won't be answering emails for at least a week. And if I don't follow the doctor's orders my wife has promised to kill me. Free advice #2: Carefully evaluate your future spouse's weapon accuracy BEFORE walking down that aisle.

So here's an early Merry Christmas and a Happy Hanukkah. Remember that it's winter: watch those CO2 velocities, and frozen paintballs. And free advice #3: Never pretend to be a 'tough guy who feels no pain' in a hospital - demand the narcotics.

Hey yall. i was wondering other than getting an anti siphon co setup, running vertical helps prevent co siphonng right? Ok. A Kapp tear drop forward seems to have a set angle of 15 to 12 degree. The 99 F4 asa is 12. Will the Kapp DF coupled with F4 ASA set the tank "vertical" or angled enuff to prevent CO siphoning? Does anyone here has this setup? how does it balance the gun? how was the velocity consistency?

Ok, after all the good advice so far I can't help but ask yet another question. Now that I've got the sight rail back on, I've moved on to the trigger. It seems to have a really heavy pull on it and I'm trying to figure out how to loosen it up. I put in a lighter spring but it seems a bit on the short side so that it kind of clicks when I fire. Is there a spring someone can recommend, or a size? And where might one find such a spring? Is there anything else I can do to get a lighter trigger pull?

  • Sight Rail -- The Captain, 00:29:02 11/27/02 Wed (12.228.43.175)

OK. I bought Alf Hanz's F4 last week (pictured under member's photos) via the trading post. I figured with all the additional parts and the barrel $150 for a well maintained used gun was a better deal than a new F4 stock. I took it out saturday and sunday and it shot wonderfully i would say, even with my horrible playing, I still managed to get some tags and the accuracy was a nice suprise. It was fun having guys walk up with obviously way more expensive guns and inquire about mine.
Other than having to have a guy help me replace the sear (with one Alf included when he shipped the gun) and the double trigger piece actually falling off in one of my first games (currently in the proccess of being thread locked on) I experienced no problems whatsoever over the course of the weekend of play. Only one ball broken in the barrel, and none in the chamber, and fairly consistent velocity given I'm in Seattle and using Co2.
So needless to say I am very happy with my new(used)gun. The only real trouble is that in tinkering with the thing (I just had to take it apart) I removed the sight rail, a piece which I recently, through reading the manual, realized was not meant to be tinkered with other than by 'certified airsmiths'. oops. So now the front healy spring is out and I need to put it back in...
I was told that a kit to insert this can be purchased from the hardware store, but is there anything I should watch out for? I mean, why does one have to be an airsmith to do this?
Also, where can i get another replacement sear and o-rings just to have on hand?
Thanks again for yer help all.

Anyone know? or am i gonna be the one to buy and tell? In any case its unfortunate that aci has "niched" its market by not makin barrell adapters or giving the new f4's more popular barrel threading.

I'm just getting into paintball and I just have to thank Mark and Mav and anyone else who helps make this page what it is. I bought an F4 from a guy on the trading post (its in the mail) and I'm getting a bunch of buddies to buy f4's as well. I have played with them years ago, but I was only borrowing. The reliability and quality was a big factor, but then I came to this site and read how happy everyone here is about their f4 and all the info available and it was a done deal.

My question relates to filling tanks. What is the cheapest method of constructing a fill station? I am familiar with dive tanks. My dad is in construciton so I have access to a heavy duty compressor. Is it simpler to not convert from Co2 and buy a large tank and refill it?
Thanks again and in advance for help with this.
