Mary was a slut. She created a lie about being impregnated by God, and people bought into it. The only reason it worked is because nothing like that had ever happened throughout the history of time. And since it was such a religious time period, who would argue against something they knew nothing about?

Christianity teaches people to be afraid of God, rather than to accept existance on Earth and try to be an individual who knows right from wrong, and when to control emotions. People would rather be afraid of going to Hell than to just live life. If you truly ARE a good person, you will get the ending that you deserve; not what some objective book of myth and mystery teaches.

When apes finally evolved into humans (circa 6000-4004 B.C.E.), the brain was suddenly capable of more things than it ever was before: rational thought and--more importantly--emotion. Human beings were finally aware they they were vulnerable, but were also confused as to how they arrived on Earth, and how everything worked. Since there was no science or research at that point in time to reach the understanding of certain things like: Where does rain come from?
Today, we know rain comes from precipitation but to the early humans, there was no knowledge of that. And since no human was able to make the rain fall down, it had to come from a higher, magical power: God.

Religion also does not teach people to accept when they are wrong, and to rectify situations. Too many wars have been fought over religion and God. Too many people have been killed and converted by force just because they have different views on how to life life.

Jesus Christ was a fluke; he was just an average person who accidentally became famous by his mother's ability to tell a good story.
