Hi, I was wonderign if anyone has exp with rainbows and broken feathers....Should the broken feathers be pulled out, by a vet, or will it be ok to just trim them back? THis bird is a wild bird, being looked after by a carer, their is some talk of having it destroyed as conflicting opinions are plentiful on wether to pull the feathers totally or trim and leave? Seems he cant fly with these feathers broken. So he cant be released till he is in flight...There is one broken tail feather and 3 broken flight feathers..
should only a vet pull these feathers or can the carer pull them if they have to be? She has been told that lorrikeets are 'different' in regards to flight feathers?
Does pulling out feathers encourage the new feathers to come through quicker?
Help please!
Thanks
Julie.
