well this is good to see people who are interested in this topic. I am sure that there are many others who would like to comment here. I think it is a very important topic, which isn't discussed as much as it should be.
Perhaps the importation of exotics should be opened up again..surely that will put a dent into the smuggling operations.
Helen I find you comment about the greed of these illegal importers very interesting....seems greed is the key word here. Would it be fair to say that they are more interested in the $$$$ value of the bird than the pleasure of owning a bird for the sake of its beauty, its preservation...which in my opinion is what aviculture is all about. So in saying that...I find your comment very interesting..and I quote you.... "Dont think that once they get to your affordable range that that will be the end of it...@@@@@00ooo down the price will go till its not worth owning them".
Do you really think its worth having a bird....just because its worth a lot of money????
