Thought I should start a new message string personally I hate scrolling. Also this allows others to get there posts on without us taking up the whole screen everytime we post on the debate.

I had lunch with a group of Aviculturists yesterday and of course the green cheek issue was brought up.

These people know more than me..and yes they have been into greenchecks a long long time

correct me if Im wrong I seriously doubt these people are though.
I was told
the year 90 to 91 was the best selling year for greencheeks. when the exotic licensed was introduced it slaughtered the green cheek trade as then the ( disclosed) numbers that were bred could be seen to all.

This info was verified with references to green cheek owners in that era.

When I asked about the mutations and the year of introduction they did like jerahmia just about fall of there chairs laughing stating, "yeah right!."

As this appears to be an issue I contacted two of them this morning ...re intro of cinnamons..mentioning Melbourne etc.
They found it highly unlikely that they were here then as it was not an established mutation but to tread carefully havent totally discounted it due to the fact of as previously mentioned undisclosed birds.

when asked about yellow sided etc they were on the ground again.

we went on to discuss greencheek and there mutations and the fact that with smuggling its a dam site easier to bring in a mutation than a new species eg. all the ringneck mutations that have appeared ( we must be world leaders over here in the development of ringneck mutations lol.).

we should probably move onto a more sure thing like white bellied caquies.

what i think is though important is to keep this debate alive and not to attack each other too much as then it will contravene the voy board regulations and our posts will be wiped.

Also it makes for a more informative interesting debate. As Im sure, if we can maintain a level of decorum we will entice others into the debate. And it wont degenerate into a slanging match

Helen
