Helen I agree with you maybe last night at the time I posted I wasnt thinking clearly and may have been a tad blunt and rude BUT in saying that, I am no fool and hate to be treated so.
I know of a couple of the largest conure breeders who have been very forward about where and when they aquired their mutation greencheeks and they virbally advertise that they are the first to have brought these mutations in Australia.
Hey Alex maybe I can give you their names and you can argue with them that the birds they paid $20,000- for, you had eight years ago and you have bred hundreds in that eight years and can sell them for the same price of a normal greencheek???? Greencheeks do of course breed like rabbits or at least my normals always have. Cinnamons should be so prevelant in 8 years they would number the same as normals I would think???
Look I could say they came in twenty years ago as well if I wanted but talking here on the board proves nothing,you can basically say what you like here and not have sound proof, as I said if we stop kidding ourselves we all know the truth but again it is common knowledge that they were released last year by everybody in the know!!!! If certain people want to legitamise illegal birds thats cool, why should the truth stand in the way???
One well known breeder in particular spoke at a parrot meeting in Brisbane and if you were their and listened to the lecture he actually let the cat out of the bag as to the origin of the birds he had on display (which included cinnamon/blue/yellowsided and crimson bellied etc)He stated they "flew in on the wind" He also stated that he was one of the first breeders to purchase these birds only recently with the first release. So you really dont need to be on the inner circle the information was all given at one meeting for those that could listen really closely.
I bet he isnt standing out from the crowd now but before everything happened with the raids these people were as proud as punch and would tell anybody about everything!!!
Anyway it still remains the same these people as Helen said are sitting with an illegal drug crop in their back yard and would be hoping like hell they are not going to be the next "Harry Sissens".... Could be allot of bankrupt people in jail one would think.
