set theory perhaps... just its tiresome naming sets of this nature. Let me be more explicit. Presume that two virtual agents interact. One is in germany, one in the US. The first books all transactions into an accounting environment HGB, the latter to FASB.. the meaning of the acronyms is not relevant, rather consider them to be names of sets of rules. There is no such thing as an objective viewpoint on any financial transaction between Germany and America, rather the viewpoint is *HGB or *FASB (using the C language dereference). let x = "Joe bought and sold 40 shares of common stock" If joe is in germany, then the sentence is *HGB(x) If the stock is IBM, then it carries an implicit *FASB(IBM) as IBM is inseparable from the accounting treatment. *HGB(x(*FASB(IBM)))

I realize the liberty in using C language references... but perhaps it clarifys the real question i'm asking about notation and why i'm interested in it.
