Subject: Love my Kia

After an accident with our Ford Explorer (head on collision in which no airbags deployed and seatbelts came undone while the car was flipping through the air) and a child on the way we were looking for a new car. I have to admit we were warned against buying a KIA by Hyundai onwers (they have the same manufacturer). So after looking at Ford, Dodge, and many other American made cars we tried our luck with the KIA Optima SE (2002, pruchased in the same year). We make constant trips from southern Virginia to Washington, DC and the yearly trip to Memphis, Tennessee to visit relatives and we have never had a problem, only a smooth ride. After two years it has been in the shop once and that was for the last recall it had (and that didn't even affect our car). I have enjoyed our KIA and don't hesitate recommending it to new buyers. I am all for American made cars and products in general but I have to say that our car (I can't vouch for all KIA's or foreign made cars) has shown us reliability and is ready for the long haul.
