It would be possible but it is not as straightforward as it sounds as each of the displayed names is actually a separate box with its background colour set to the same colour as the main background.

"Light grey" is probably the only other colour which would provide sufficient contrast for the blue, red, green and navy text used by the DFT. I tried this some time ago and didn't really like it, but I may take another look at it sometime.
