George - just to add a note of encouragement....once you have the two prerequisites stated by Nicholas, it's quite easy to install DFT, load your family tree database via a GEDCOM file, and learn how to use DFT (and publish it on a website if you wish).
I did this two years ago when I was a RAW novice with Windows and with computers in general.
