The DFTCOM2 web site is back up now -I was worried! Now for a response. I think the current version of DFTCOM2 (may 2003) is still by far the best java applet for hosting gedcoms. The program was way ahead of its time with the Dynamic tree idea. Only now is it becoming painfully obvious that everyone generating hundreds or thousands of ged>html pages waists web resources. For 10 years, we have been waiting for a new gedcom standard to replace 5.5. The current plan is to adopt XML as the new gedcom language, but progress is slow. The eventual idea with XML is to have Dynamic pages too. The only bright spot lately is the explosion in php pearl type web pages on SQL front-ends - but you need a web server that hosts php language, and many do not (like mine).
Do a search for "php genealogy" and you'll see all kinds of new Dynamic gecom pages. Meanwhile, I'll stick with DFTcom2 for now, although the genviewr applet by Chris Stillwell is a neat alternate.
