Subject: 9/11 Author: Shannen [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] Date Posted: 16:06:22 09/10/02 Tue I can't believe that it has been a year already. The events of 9/11 made a big impact on my life even though I'm Danish and not American. I remember that day so clearly I had just gotten home it was a little over four in the afternoon and I turned the TV on and the pictures from NY came on. I was so overwhelmed by what I saw and I cried for the victims their children and their families. These attack made me think about how fragile life really is and how life as we know it can be changed forever. These attacks hit very close to home for me because my fiancé is a police officer and my brother is a firefighter and even though they weren't in anymore danger than they normally are I couldn't help but think what if? That night my sister and I went to a special mass that was being held in honour of the victimes we lit candles and praied for the victims and their families. On the way home from mass we went by the American enbassy and laid some flowers. When we got there were about 150 people maybe more and they were singing Amazing Grace and there were flowers and candles everywhere. I don't wan't to sound cruel or anything like that but I must say that I have never been so happy to see my fiancé as I was that night when he came home from work. Not because he had been in any danger but because I kept thinking about those families who would never see their loved ones again. Tomorrow my sister and I will go to a mass being held in memorey of the victims. I will pray for those brave men and women who lost their lives in the attacks and for their families and I will light a candle and pray for peace. GOD BLESS!
