Just wanted to follow up with what I believe was the problem. I figured I would replace the outlet since I didn't have a GFI and upon doing so discovered that I had a broken wire, which was still connected enough to turn the pump on, but not enough to deliver enough amps and thus overheating the pump. Good website though and keep up the good work.
