In answer to your real question, how to pull the pump, there are a couple of ways to go:
1. Easiest and best way is to get some teenagers over there and start pulling it up. Four or five people could make short work of it. If there is a steel pipe going down there, then you would need some sort of saw to cut off pieces as you brought it up.
2. If you are by yourself, get someone to help you. Then you can make up a clamp from two 2x6"s maybe a foot to 18" long. Carve a groove in the wood pieces for the pipe to fit in and make four holes for big (and I mean BIG) bolts to fit through. The routine is bring up "some" pipe, loosen the nuts, move the clamp down, the retighten the bolts. The clamp makes sure you don't drop it.
3. If it is tooo heavy, then you can make a FOUR (three is not stable enough) legged stand over it from 2x4"s and use a come-along or a chain fall to pull it up. Clamp as decribed in 2, above.
