If we were to use medical terminology to describe drilling a well, it would probably be classified as an invasive procedure, as opposed to more environmentally friendly procedures such as driving or jetting which, relatively speaking, do not disturb the aquifer. Fortunately, the bad side effects are usually temporary and everything returns to normal after a month or so.

If you and your neighbors' wells are totally devoid of water, then you are an extreme case. Normally all that happens is that the fine silt and sand get stirred up enough to cause havoc in surrounding wells. In most states well contractors are licensed by both the state and county and therefore must pay attention to how they affect the environment. I suggest you call the contractor and calmly and sensibly discuss the matter.
