To set the tanks pressure, the pump has to be turned off, then open a faucet and let all the water pressure out of the system. Next check the air pressure in the tank. It should be 2 pounds less than the turn on pressure of the pump. In a 30/50 system, you would need 28 lbs in the tank before re pressurizing the system with the pump.
