To begin with $1,200.00 is a reasonable price for a well. However, if you want to do it yourself, go ahead and do so. Drillers have a large investment in their rigs, tools, and they have to keep their crews working or their crews will go elsewhere. That aside, don't let yourself be strongarmed by a driller. Like any other profession, it has bad apples like this guy who rely on scare tactics to get business. Yes, you have to be careful not to pollute the aquifer. But don't think that just because a person is licensed and bonded, he is going to care more about your family's well than you do. Like most people, he is in business to make money and that is what comes first.
