You might want to change your 1 1/4" for one that has fittings on the inside rather than the outside. This will give you more room inside the 2" pipe. The inside fittings are made by Brady Products and are sold at the two BB stores as well as on amazon.com.

If you are lucky, you can still use the pipe you have, but PVC pipe manufacturers are more concerned about tolerances on the outside of the pipe, and not so much on the inside. That's why I recommend that people buying the inside connectors use the connector to select the pipe at the store and make sure it will fit properly before bringing it home and finding out.

Have you tried reducing the output with a partially closed valve?
