Real IRA warn of another year of 'war' Derry News - Thursday - Nov. 28
By Mark Mullan

THE REAL IRA has sent a chilling warning that they have no intention of ending their campaign, the Derry News can disclose today.

The threat is contained in a calendar produced by dissident republicans, which is currently being distributed in Derry.

The calendar contains many images of RIRA members from the Northwest engaged in military activity - including an attack on an alleged British army spy tower at Sheriff's Mountain and a training camp south of the border.

On one page, [December 2003] the words, "See you next year" are printed alongside a picture of an AK-47 assault rifle.

The dissidents have also produced a musical CD entitled "We are still at war - Oglaigh Na hÉireann", which includes two songs by top Irish performer Christy Moore.

Both items are being sold to raise money for republican prisoners and are available from an e-mail address at a cost of £5 each. Sources in Derry claim that demand for both the calendar and the CD have been extremely high in the city.

The release of the calendar is the latest in a series of moves by dissident republicans to rubbish speculation that they intend to abandon violence following a call from Portlaoise prisoners for the RIRA to be disbanded.

Prisoners defiant

And in a further blow to peace hopes, RIRA prisoners in Maghaberry prison have issued a statement to the Derry News in which they defiantly pledge allegiance to the organisation's leadership and vow to continue their "war of liberation".

"We the PoWs in the six counties wish to convey our gratitude and utmost appreciation to our friends, families and supporters, " the statement reads. "We would especially like to single out for praise the IRPWA for the tremendous support they provide to republican PoWs.

"In light of recent events, the PoWs in the six counties would like to take this opportunity to offer our unreserved, unqualified and steadfast support for the current leadership of Oglaigh Na hÉireann. We have full confidence in the leadership and its ability to continue successfully the war for national liberation. Tiocfaidh Ár Lá.

Meanwhile, the Real IRA is believed to have been behind an arson attack on Katy Daly's pub in Strabane last week.

It is understood that the attack - which severely damaged the premises -was linked to tensions between the RIRA and the Provisionals.
