OVERALL PRODUCTION VALUES
I finally watched the pageant in its entirety. I have to say that the whole production reeked of local Filipino pageant than one of an international calibre. There were one or two high points, but the overwhelming lows far outweighed anything of interest in this the pageant. The hosts of the show were atrocious!

WEAK TOP 4 - REHEARSED ANSWERS
Apart from that, I think that the top 4 were quite weak in terms of beauty, but nevertheless Tanzania stood out by far. The final question was about addressing Obama on environmental problems, and it was obvious that this question was chosen in the hopes that the international media might pick up on it. It was a very specific question addressed to a specific world leader and it required a specific reply. Unfortunately, all the girls regurgitated their memorised answers. No one thought to incorporate Obama's "CHANGE" slogan into their answers.

The eventual winner, Miss Philippines, regurgitated her answer the best, her part-Canadian roots naturally putting her at an advantage when it came to speaking in English. She sounded totally rehearsed and, unlike Miss Tanzania, Miss Mexico & Miss Brazil, gave her well-practised delivery without any slip-ups.

PHILIPPINES - CANADA : THE MESTIZAS
Miss Earth 2007 was a Canadian who had a Filipino father. Miss Earth 2008 was a Filipina who had a Canadian father. No surprises then that the general public in the Philippines, and most of the people writing/blogging about ME (ie. Filipinos) think that they were deserving of their wins because of their outstanding Mestiza beauty.

Mestizas are cherished in the Philippines because they tend to have Caucasian features like fair skin, big eyes, a nose with a well-defined bridge, etc. Many are raised to idol status. However, to non-Filipino eyes, these mestizas are not the godesses Filipinos hold them to be. They're a dime a dozen in South American countries and few would give them a second glance. In any case, this explains the idolatry that goes on in the Philippines when it comes to mestizas.

There were quite a few stunners in Miss Earth this year, but not all made the cut. The cut from top 8 to top 4 was the most puzzling. I guess Miss Philippines was the best among the Top 4, but that does not speak much for her, as she was sporting well-developed love-handles during the swimsuit round.

Overall, Miss Earth seems to be going downhill in terms of production values and crown holders, not to mention beauty. I only look forward to watching Miss Universe and Miss World now, as these two pageants still produce the most stunning winners and first-class productions.

CONGRATULATIONS to Karla Paula Henry of the Philippines for winning the Miss Earth crown for Asia. Finally, Asia is represented!!!!

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

It was Miss Philippines’ night even before the announcement of the top 4 when she nailed the swimsuit and parading in a beautiful gown which is entirely different from her prelim gown. Her answer in the final question sealed her to the Miss Earth title. I personally was rooting for Miss Tanzania but she over-extended her answer to the question and lost her composure. Indeed, Karla gave the best answer that night. A well deserved win for the Philippines! OMG it’s like a Denise Quinones flashback when she won the Miss Universe crown at her native Puerto Rico.

Subject: How to Win a Beauty Pageant

Author:
Tiffany Hansenn
[Edit]

Date Posted: 00:38:45 11/05/08 Wed

Every girl who enters a beauty pageant has one goal in mind- winning. However, no matter how beautiful or talented each contestant is, there can only be one winner. So, you may be asking yourself the number one question. What can I do to win a beauty pageant? To begin with, if you want to win a beauty pageant you will have to do your research and prepare for hard work.

Just being a beautiful girl is not going to make you a winner. In fact, beauty pageants consist of more events then simple appearance alone. You must be prepared to present yourself as an eloquent and intelligent speaker, you must be poised, dignified, and showcase your talent with expertise. All of this requires hard work, determination, and taking the time to research each beauty pageants rules as well as their history.

One of the most important steps that you can take to ensure that you win is to hire a beauty pageant coach. Studies have shown that the majority of beauty pageant winners have coaches. Coaches are privy to information regarding simple things that the judges are looking for. The pageant contestant may inadvertently ignore these simple things. For example, ensuring that you have the proper model stance can be the difference between first place and runner up. Most beauty pageant winners are the first to admit that their coaches played a vital role in their success.

Training hard is essential to ensuring that you win your next beauty pageant. You will need to practice your public speaking skills, your specific talent, your walk, modeling stance, as well as work on your smile, hair and makeup. It is a good idea to study videotapes of previous winners of the beauty pageants that you are competing in. This is a great way to see what qualities the judges are looking for in a winner.

You will also need to have an enormous amount of self-discipline. Winning a beauty pageant requires that you are disciplined in every aspect of your life. You should consider the beauty pageant as if it were a marathon or an event that you were in training for. Discipline in your sleeping habits, exercise routine, and nutrition are essential to ensuring that you remain in prime condition. Many women have lost their spot as a beauty pageant winner due to overindulgence in food, drinking, and lacking exercise. You must be committed to doing whatever it takes to win your next beauty pageant to see your dream come true.

Make sure that you always behave appropriately and respectfully. This includes how you treat the other contestants, the judges, and the organizers of the contest. If you present yourself as having a horrible, snobby attitude you will find that it will work against you in the long run. Often times, people confuse self-confidence with arrogance. They are definitely two different things. Judges are looking for a woman who exudes grace as well as confidence, but a woman who presents herself as believing that she is better than everyone else and treats other people badly will never be successful.

“Underground River” in Sabang, Puerto Princesa City, also known as the Saint Paul Subterranean River National Park, which was declared by UNESCO as “World Heritage Site”.

By Ruth T. Rodriguez
Times Columns

WEEKEND WAS again busy with Miss Earth 2008 delegates visiting the “City in a Forest” for their swimsuit competition, which was held at Sitio Sabang, Barangay Cabayugan. Guess what, their pictorial was done inside the world famous underground river cave.

Before they proceeded to Sabang, they first visited Puerto Princesa and had a motorcade in the main street.

Thirty delegates of GROUP 3 from around the earth arrived in this beautiful place for the swimsuit competition. They also visited Cabayugan Elementary School for the Adopt-a-School program.

Miss Earth is a beauty pageant for a cause that has a big concern for the environment. The coronation night will be held at Clark Expo Amphitheater in Angeles City, Pampanga, Philippines on November 9 and it will be aired over ABS-CBN.

At the conclusion of the final night of the competition, outgoing titleholder Miss Earth 2007, Jessica Nicole Trisko of Canada will crown her successor.

The underground River
by Ivan Henares of Click The City

On the boat on the way to the river entrance, we were afforded stunning views of the limestone karst landscape that characterizes the park. The boat passed by a beach which I remember from my trip in 1997. Swimming is not allowed in the river entrance area which is why you have to hike up and down the Monkey Trail to get to that beach to swim.

At the river entrance, you have to sign their register, wear life jackets and protective helmets, and wait in line to board small boats with outriggers that would take you into the cave. Each boat has a battery-powered lamp in front, which I would later find out while exploring the area were charged with solar energy. Our boat guide was Toting, the most popular of the guides because of his humor. In fact, he is much sought after by visitors and is the go-to guy for television features.

It was a different world we entered, one covered in complete darkness, pierced by the solitary spotlight we had on board. Looking up, you would see different species of bats hanging from the ceiling, fast asleep. Their presence was obvious due to the pungent odor of guano, or bat dung, close to the mouth of the cave.

Flying around were cave swiflets (not bats as others mistake them for) that are most known for the nests they create from their saliva that become the main ingredient of nido soup. The formations inside the cave are spectacular. The speleothems (the cave formations or secondary mineral deposits), which are formed by thousands of years of mineral accumulation, were very interesting.

The Underground River in Puerto Princesa is the longest explored underground river in the world. A total of 8.2 kilometers have been discovered and 4.3 kilometers are navigable; but access to tourists is limited to 1.5 kilometers. You’ll have to get a special permit to explore the rest of the river.

Some of the Miss Earth 2008 Candidates appeared on WoWowee TV Program in the Philippines. They all had a good time and it is fun to watch. I laughed watching them played and participated a Filipino-style TV game show. The girls just came back from a 4-day out-of-town pictorial and tv shoot.

Date Posted: 10:59:42 10/24/08 Fri

The 19 member jury has casted their Top 16 Miss Earth Delegates for the Water Round with deadline on 23 October 2008 GMT+3. The tally sheet provided varied entries. This result is the 3rd one by Woman of the Earth Forum.

The current ranking reflects the current sentiments of the fans since the delegates start arriving to the Philippines. Suddenly, Roxandra Popa of Romania came out of nowhere and settled for nothing but the Goddess at the Pedestal spot which was used to be occupied by Ria Antoniou of Greece for 2 consecutive Fire Rankings. Greece dropped down 7 notches to the 8th spot.

V: Challengers: India, South Africa, Netherlands, Hungary, Korea & USA
VII: Arena: Tahiti, Sudan, Botswana Switzerland, Sweden, Nicaragua, France, Argentina, Suriname, Japan, Bolivia, Guatemala, Honduras & Ecuador
VIII: Special Mentions: Scotland, Panama, Ethiopia, Ukraine, Russia, Kosovo, El Salvador, Bhutan, Serbia, Latvia, Georgia, Israel, Northern Ireland, Singapore & Bosnia.

Along with Romania, newcomers on the list are Peru, Guam and England who pushed down the heavy favorites Mexico, Venezuela and Colombia.

Poland is steadily squeezing her way up since Karolina Filipkowska assumed her country’s post.

Impressive following of Miss Philippines Karla Henry who is now on No. 2 spot belonging to the Court of Three climbing 2 levels since the first ranking.

There will be 2 more rankings, the next one will be Air Round to be announced on Halloween 31Oct08. And the final ranking, Earth Round to be announced on 07Oct08 to act as the final stand of the Woman of the Earth forum.

In 2008, the Miss Earth is going to be held partly in Manila, Philippines, Guam and Indonesia at the beginning of November. The favourites so far seem to be:

Barbara van den Bussche was recently crowned Miss Belgium Earth 2008. What will her fate be in front of the global audience ?

Tatiane Alves, Miss Minas Gerais and 4th RU to Miss Brazil 2005, will surely do her best to repeat her country´s victory from 2004.

From the land of the reigning Miss Earth, here´s Denise Garrido, Miss Earth Canada !

Colombia placed second at MU and is a huge favourite to win MI. Will Mariana Merchan continue the success ?

Czech Republic already placed three times at Miss Earth - in 2005(semifinalist), 2006(finalist) and 2007(semifinalist). But what´s next for the Czech Republic ? Let´s wait for what Hana Svobodová, Czech Miss 2008 1st Runner Up, has to say.

Ecuador made waves at MW last year. Will Andrea Leon do the same at ME ?

Ria Antoniou was a huge favourite to win Miss Greece 2008 but placed "only" as a runner-up. Her fans can, however, cheer for her again in Manila, Philippines !

Jennifer Neves of Guam is a Miss Cyprus Universe 2002 look alike, will surely handle her task of the home-country girl gracefully. Will she impress the judges as well ?

Second Runner Up to Miss Hungary 2008, Krisztina Polgár, is another blonde stunner who can easily put a surprise.

Two last Miss Earth 1st Runner Ups came from India. After Harshita Saxena resigned, the focus is now on beautiful Tanvi Vyas´.

At Miss Universe Kosovo was a celebrity. And to Miss Earth, they are sending another beautiful delegate - Yllka Berisha.

Otherwise successful, Mexico was not able to score high at Miss Earth. Up to 2008 maybe, because Abigail Romo of Coahuila will be wearing their sash this year.

Also this European country is still waiting for its moment of glory. Miss Earth Netherlands, Melanie de Laat, can be the one to break through.

Paraguay placed twice at Miss Earth - in 2005 their beauty was a semifinalist and a year later Yanina Gonzales even made the final four. Yeruti Garcia, Miss Paraguay Earth 2008, is the country´s bet for this year.

Anna Mezentseva is Miss Earth Russia 2008.

Last year, South Africa placed at Miss Earth for the very first time among the semifinalists. May Matapa Maila, Miss South Africa finalist and Miss SA Earth winner, add another success ?

Miss Tenerife and Miss Spain 2007 1st Runner Up, Adriana Reveron, will be another European bet for Miss Earth. Last year, Angela Gomez Duran(Miss Cantabria and Miss Spain 2006 semifinalist), placed 4th.

Martina Tóthová, 1st Runner Up to Miss Universe Slovakia 2008, is definitely among the best delegates the country ever sent to Miss Earth !

Remember the elegant brunette from Switzerland, who made the semifinals last year ? Nasanin Nuri may repeat the success.

Tahiti has always been doing well at Miss Earth. This year, they are sending another stunning beauty - Vahinetua Flaccadori !

Thailand seems to have saved their best for Miss Earth. Dubbed as Asian version of Cynthia Olivaria, Piyaporn Deejing is Miss Thailand Earth 2008.

An experienced beauty, Jana Murrell, is representing the USA, Former Miss Nebraska and Miss USA 2005 MEGA favotite to win surely stands a chance, don´t you think.

Many say Daniela Torrealba wasn´t the best choice her country could make for Miss Earth but Venezuela always comes shining and prepared.

And, will Asia wins it's first Miss Earth through the FASHIONISTA Karla Paula Henry of the Philippines?

Hello Sister Forum Miss Lebanon and Lebanese Beauties Forum! This forum is linked to Miss Earth's Goddesses of Beauty Forum.

Rumors have been going on as to who will be this year's host for Miss Earth 2008. There is a strong possibility that it is again going to be Mr. Ariel Ureta who hosted the 2006 Edition. But not everybody is agreeing. Some prefer Utt of Thailand. But a certain camp strongly suggests Billy Crawford (photo shown).Crawford is the host of the Pinoy Dream Academy. Pinoy Dream Academy is the Philippine version of Endemol's Star Academy. Well, let us see what will happen.

Regarding the host countries for 2008, we are all aware of Guam and Bali. Miss Earth is really innovative in coming up with ideas on how to present the pageant. But did you know that there is almost another country included and that is Dubai! But due to time restraints, this did not push thru. So maybe, next year this will happen. Even now, we are already excited for Miss Earth 2009!

There have been posts on this Miss Earth's Goddesses of Beauties forum that Miss Liberia is looking for sponsorship. For more information, you may visit: http://www.mefeedia.com/entry/marit-woods-talks-about-miss-earth-liberia-2008/11187171/

Something very noticeable about this year's candidates, and one poster mentioned in the Miss Earth's Goddesses of Beauty Forum, that all types of beauties are well represented. So this year's competition will be very tough. I can see Snow Goddesses, Desert Goddesses, Tropical Goddesses, etc. Perhaps, National Pageant Directors realized that if they want to really win then they should send their best candidates. Currently, there are 84 crowned/elected candidates as per Dratini's report.

Another thing special about Miss Earth is it's current venue. It will be held in one of the biggest Amphitheatres in Asia, The Clark Freeport Amphitheatre. I have been suggesting this venue for at least 3 years in other forums before Miss Earth's Goddesses of Beauty was born and it became a reality! This is where the Centennial Celebration of the Philippines was held. The candidates will have a lot of space to move around but let us hope they won't stumble. That is not original LOL!

For the fans, I am happy to inform you that the Miss Earth's Goddesses of Beauty forum's system is now in place to get arrival pictures of the candidates and also the real time update during the coronation night. So watch out for these!

MISS EARTH yeah!

Until then,

Miss Earth United States checks out Fort Collins’ environmental efforts

Beauty For a Cause

For many, the appearance of Miss Earth United States, Jana Murrell, in Fort Collins last week went undetected. The pageant is a smash-hit internationally, with roughly 90 countries competing in what is now the third largest international beauty competition behind the Miss World and Miss Universe contests. But stateside, it’s still gathering steam.

The pageant isn’t beauty divas preening for endorsements and celebrity status; it requires its participants to be spokeswomen for the environment.

Murrell, who won the Miss Earth United States title at the national competition in Portland, Ore., visited Fort Collins over the weekend to appear at the Sustainable Living Fair, where she modeled eco-friendly clothing. Before the fair, she spent Thurday and Friday touring the city’s FortZED Restaurant Initiative trailblazers: Mugs Coffee Lounge, Austin’s American Grill and the Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant. She also made a special stop by New Belgium Brewery.

“You get the glamour and the glitz, but you’re coming together for a good cause,” said Murrell, 26, a physical therapist and former TV anchor for Omaha, Nebraska’s KETV Channel 7.

Murrell said she was impressed at the enthusiasm Fort Collins expressed about environmental initiatives. She was particularly impressed with McCabe Callahan’s efforts at Mugs Coffee Lounge.

“He’s doing a lot not only for the environment but for the community,” she said. Murrell said she was especially impressed by Mug’s vegetable garden in the basement of the shop.

Carol Hirata, marketing director for Earth Pageant Productions, said that Jana’s public position as a beauty queen puts her in a unique position to voice support for environmental causes.

“If Jana were to walk into a room full of people, of course she’s going to turn some heads because she’s tall and pretty. But you put the sash on and people want to talk to her,” Hirata said. “You get someone like Jana that’s very articulate who can talk to children and at the same time talk to officials.”

New Miss Earth forum: http://www.voy.com/217922/

Instead of extraordinary or Hollywood style outfits by big name designers, or off the peg fashions, Czech Miss 2008 finalists presented very unusual gear. The designer created them from wrapping materials of all kinds. The unconventional fashion show, with the motto "Forget about the gray average", was produced by the leading supplier of construction materials, Holcim Èesko. "Originally wrapped", the main models were Czech Miss 2008, Eliška Buèková, Miss Earth Czech Republic 2008, Hana Svobodová, finalists Aneta Sychrová and Aneta Faitová and a model from Central European Models, Michaela Mrázová.

Subject: Beauty Queens at the Amazing Race Asia

Author:
Silent Observer
[Edit]

Date Posted: 21:23:40 08/07/08 Thu

I just visited www.beautyinpageants.blogspot.com and learned about the participation of three beauty queens at the Amazing Race Asia. They are Natalie Glebova, Pailin and Tisha Silang.

_____________________________________________

She conquered the universe. She conquered the earth. She conquered the Philippines. But only one of them emerged victoriously.

That was years ago. This time, they have the same mission and that is to conquer Asia through the Amazing Race. And one of them will emerge victorious once more. Who is she?

Three former beauty queens are taking part in a show called the Amazing Race Asia. From the the stage, they are taking their battlefields to the real world as they try to race around the world especially Asia to win - this time, not a pageant crown - a hundred thousand US dollars.

From pageant beauties, they are now Amazing beauties.

Former 2005 Miss Universe Natalie Glebova of Canada is representing Thailand on the third installment of the popular Amazing Race. She is racing with her friend, also a beauty queen, Pailin Rungratanasunthorn who represented Thailand at the Miss Earth 2006 in Manila, Philippines.

Glebova is married to a Thai popular tennis player, Paradorn. This marriage made her eligible to represent Thailand, the country where she won her title as Miss Universe.

On the other hand, Tisha Silang is representing the Philippines together with her boyfriend of 8-years younger, Geoff Rodriguez. Tisha won the right to represent Philippines to the 1998 Miss Universe pageant in Hawaii, USA. But she was forced to give up her title because of a citizenship issue. Tisha is also a Canadian citizen of Filipino parents. She's having dual citizenships.

Only Glebova won her respective pageant being the Miss Universe 2005. Pailin was unplaced at the Miss Earth 2006 while Tisha Silang did not go to the Miss Universe pageant.

Now, the question is who will become winner out of the three? Will Glebova repeat her success with Pailin or will Tisha take this oppurtunity to prove herself.

Watch the show at AXN-Asia starting 11 September 2008 at 9 pm HKT every Thurdays.

As per the spoilers posted at www.entermyworld.heavenforum.com and RFF, Tisha seems to be part of the final 4 while Natalie and Pailin were unnoticed. From EnterMyWorld, Tisha was seen in Singapore Airport booking a flight to Cochin, India. A blogger saw them and he was able to sneak a photo of them. You can check the pictures at the Spoilers Corner of the site.

The three beauties will also be first seen on the show by 04 September 2008 when AXN airs a one-hour special titled Racers Revelead.

Also, these pictures where taken at a press conference confirming that she will be competing in Miss World 2008 in Kiev, Ukraine, as well as Miss Universe 2009! Also, there was a discussion about the beauty of national crowns in a recent post. What are all your opinions of the official Miss Lebanon crown? Have a great day!

I found out this link of a blog (www.beautyinpageants.blogspot.com) here and I was attempted to visit it while I was in a public internet cafe. The blogger's latest article is quite interesting.

I just copied a part of it.

ANGOLA - Lesly Pereira, in fact, has a perfect body. She was stunning in her yellow swimsuit. Her body is one of the best. She is also elegant in her gown. Though the gown is a quite not fabulous, she carried it well. I don't really know why she was excluded.

BRAZIL - Natalia Anderle is actually good in both swimsuit and evening gown presentations. She is so relaxed during the swimsuit and it was really good - very natural. Though there is nothing jaw-locking in her performance, I believe she's in the NEXT top 15.

GREECE - Dionysia Koukiou is also very natural in during the swimsuit competition. She's fine in that segment but she lacked the energy during the evening gown. The judges might have noticed the sudden drop of her enrgy which costed her the slot on the Top 15. Indeed, she's in the NEXT Top 15.

INDIA - There is nothing special about Simran Kaur Mundi except for the name of her sash she was carrying. But she is sexy in her swimsuit. She is not the typical chicken-legged Indian. Her performances on both prelimanary shows was just average. Her gown is not fabulous but she probably nailed the interview portion.

IRELAND - Lyn Kelly had nice gown. Her performance was above average but she was just average during the swimsuit segment. In totality, there's no doubt she's in the NEXT Top 15.

ISRAEL - Shunit Faragi is fabulous at the swimsuit competition. Her downfall was the evening gown. She's a little bit unclassy on how she carried the not-so-fabulous-but-okay gown. Her style in that portion was actually hate-it or love-it.

KAZAKHSTAN - Alfina Nassyrova knows how to walk. She is probably the best candidate so far from her country. She did well in both category but her gown is a little bit outdated. The lesson this country or any country that hardly breaks to the Top 15 for that matter should have a fantabulous gown and eye-popping catwalk skills. That is one of the only two ways how they can break to the semis. The other one is through politics.

KOREA - Sun Lee is actually beautiful and knows how to walk - no doubt about it. The only problem in her performance was her exxageration. She walked too wild. But she is okay in the evening gown.

NORWAY - Mariann Birkedal is definitely good. What costed her the the crown was her gown. That was awful. She tried to carry it well, she did it, but the judges emphasized more on the gown.

PANAMA - Carolina Dementiev Justavino was just fine. She's really okay for the NEXT Top 15.

PERU - Carol Castillo is just like Miss Panama. Her performance was just fine. Nothing special but definitely she's not on the third slab of Top 15.

PHILIPPINES - Jennifer Barrientos actually showed a fine preliminary performances on swimsuit and evening gown. This lady silently worked hard to bring out the best in her until the finals. She did a very classy and swimsuit presentation. Obviously, her downfall was the outdated gown but she carried it well. Though she did not have the Best Gown, she's actually in my list of the Best in Gown. Remember that there is a difference between the two.

PUERTO RICO - Ingrid Rivera was good during the preliminary. There is no doubt about it. But she was not on her best form during that night. We've seen her in previous pageants better. She was overly exposed. This could be the reason why she did not make it to the Top 15. The judges might had high expectations on her and when they saw her doing just an average performance, her score was affected.

THAILAND - Gavintra Photijak was just fine. Like Panama and Peru, she delivered an average performance enough to be in the NEXT Top 15. Politics, this time, did not work on her. Too bad.

TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO - Anya Ayoung-Chee was good in her evening gown. She carried it pretty well. She was also good in her swimsuit. And I believe she is better thatn some in the Top 15. This goes to some of the ladies mentioned in this particular list. Some of them are better than some of the ladies in the actual Top 15.

Subject: Most Hyped Miss Universe 2008 Candidates

Author:

Date Posted: 19:03:48 07/27/08 Sun

from www.beautyinpageants.blogspot.com

1. PUERTO RICO - She's no doubt the most hyped unplaced Miss Universe 2008 candidate. Right after her national pageant, she stole the limelight by accusing fellow candidates of spraying pepper in her evening gown and to her make up which made her face swollen during the final part of the pageant. She was in the pages of newspapers side by side with the owner of the Miss Universe, Donald Trump. In a Puerto Rican discussion board, her fans were busy praising every little details about her gown to her hairstyle. Her fans were busy as well bashing and trashing other candidates in an effort to lift Ingrid Rivera. But the tactics did not work this time for this 2005 Miss World Second Runner-Up. She did not deserve the hype.

2. INDIA - Because of the sash factor (India became a beauty superpower only in the nineties); her seemingly rehearsed and pageant patty interview; and her inclusion in the Top Ten Best in National Costume chosen by Vietnamese judges, she was in everybody's list, including me. A newspaper even reported in her country that she won the National Costume award even before the announcement of the real winner. Too bad, she had a very poor swimsuit and evening gown presentations. She did not also deserve the hype.

3. IRELAND - The amount of hyping on Miss Ireland is no match on the hypes on both Puerto Rico and India. Ireland was hardly noticed by the press covering the pageant but she did impress the eyes of all the beauty afficionados all over the world as manifested by almost all discussion boards on beauty pageants. She showed an impressive performance during the preliminary but she failed to break in to the Top 15. She deserved the hype, she should has been a finalist.

4. BRAZIL - She is not the prettiest face her country usually send to any international pageant. She's an ordinary Brazilian if you're in her country. In fact, the pageant went through without much media attention on her. But there was an effort by a number of Brazilian based websites and discussion boards in Latin America to help her get media mileage. In an effort to hype her, an article was quoted saying Miss Brazil made the biggest surprise at the preliminary. Indeed, she was a surprise at the Final night for not placing on the Top 15. The hype was not picked up. She definitely did not deserve the hype.

5. THAILAND - The inclusion of Thailand in the Top 15 or 20 for the last two years (Thanks to Singha beer for being a sponsor of the pageant) helped this year's Thai representative get enough media attention. Like Puerto Rico, she was in everybody's list. Her fans emulated also the tactics of most of the Latin Americans of bashing other candidates in an attempt to make their candidate looks the best or superior in the pageant. She did not make it. She deserved it without a doubt.

Below is the list of the most hyped Miss Universe 2008 candidates who penetrated the Top 15:

1. VENEZUELA - The sash factor worked on Dayana Mendoza, a priviledge Venezuela has been enjoying since the eighties. Half of the world's beauty pageant fanatics predicted her as the winner. She was given favouritism during the pageant especially during a parade that required half of the candidates to wear the Vietnamese tradidtional dress, the Ao Dai. Dayana was the priority of the press covering the event for interviews and picture takings. Afterall, she deserved it.

2. COLOMBIA - Talia Vargas ahs been in every pages of all beauty pageant forums. Her fans did well with their hyping. But, all in all, Miss Colombia did a very strong preliminary performance. She had the best gown in the pageant and I really love it. She carried the gown very well. Too bad, she did not win but she deserved all the efforts to hype her.

3. JAPAN - Having a national director who has a very popular blog discussing about her, Hiroko Mima was indeed overhyped by Ines Ligron and her followers unintentionally. Ines is such a good person and she did it in good faith, I still believe. There is no doubt that Miss Japan deserved her placement on the finals but the hyping on her just went overboard.

4. KOSOVO - How many times you've seen a Miss Kosovo at teh Miss Universe? Only this year. That idea made her the apple of the eyes of all the beauty pageant fanatics. Aside from that fact, she is no doubt one of the prettiest faces in the competition. Her look is unconventional and she has resemblance to Angelina Jolie, a popular Hollywood actress. Well, she deserved the hype.

5. AUSTRALIA - Her resemblance to her fellow Australian Miss Universe 2004 Jennifer Hawkins made Miss Australia a top favourite to win the crown. She was indeed a favourite topic in all forums. Though she did not display outstanding preliminary performances, she made it to Top 15. I can say, she deserve the hype afterall.

To complete my TOP 15 MOST HYPED 2008 Miss Universe candidates, I am including in my list the countries of Mexico, Panama, Peru, Kazakhstan, Norway and Trinidad and Tobago.

Based also on my observation, the people of Latin America and the Caribbean especially Brazil, Mexico and Puerto Rico tend to overhype their representatives. They are prolly beauty fanatics in its true meaning as vindicated by their performances year after year.

what shall i say ????

how can i express???
1 st i wanna say i really miss (shta2et) Charel Sawaya!! those events were great, in everything (away from the results).

* the stage design is not bad, but i think for those stairs to be on the stage, it must have much bigger space( yi3neh all the stage must be bigger).but plzzz shu hal decor ( during the swimsuit last week and during the evening gowns this week and at the end???? ma32oulllll??? ma khassounnn). it is not a perfect idea to do miss lebanon in LBC studios, neither inside nor outside, where the audience consits of not more than 100 ppl. walla 3ayb, khalas bala audience, the cameramen will clap.
i dont like the idea of having dinner, but i wanna see big audience !!!!

*Roula and Tony were good choice, better than Tony alone like last year. The purple dress of Roula was amazing, but i think i saw it b4 on amal hijazi, so it is not a good choice!!! Tony's suit is very stylish, but not for miss lebanon!!

*plzzz khalsouna ba2a min l tonzeem l feishil, inno soret badeh i7zar shu 3am shouf?? mission fashion? starac? elwadi?perfect bride?miss lebanon?? all the same.. awwal shi fi ra2sa ba3dein fi 3 songs lal star, ba3dein fi ra2sa, w all the same kind of dance... w khaaalaaaaassssssssssssssssssssssss !!!!!!!!!!!!!

*last week during one of the reportages, i saw the girls wearing the gowns of the past years !!! ma32oulll?????

*Dolly Ayach out from the 1st week??? No Comment... and what about the reportage?? 3am yida7ako 3layna???
aslan the whole judjes ma khassoun!!!! plzz maxime shaaya?? tayyib khalas fhimnaaa, zei7ouna fii.. y didn't i see in the jury any MISS??? lak yjibo miss pakistan mni2bal!!

*l eikhraj?? inno shu sarlo simon asmar, sawarlna eliane and abir msharbkin bil shrayet??? w ba3ed shway sawarlna eliane with the guy putting her the headset midreh kif limhim ykhalis w yinzal 3an l stage!!!

*the girls in the swimsuit and evening gowns they just walked 2 or 3 steps?? tayyib badna nshouf mashyitoun kif??? la mish daroureh khalas, bukra min2a3idoun 3ala chairs w mnintikhib miss lebanon min doun ma tou2af.

*The girls were cute and nice, but not one was charming!!! not a single one had total self confidence neither in her walk nor in her answers.
u know, the best thing in the real tv was that the girls were taught how to walk, how to talk, how to answer, during several weeks!!!

*assi l 7elani and rouwayda ,,, inno i like them both, but not a perfect choice for miss lebanon, we need more classy stars !!!

* for the second year, no MISS Elegance, No Miss photogenic, No MISS Personality, lashu ta3ab l aleb w sar wroud 3al fade..

fi kteer ba3ed things i wanna comment on, but i really forgot, i will mention them in next messages...
i liked the top 6, but non of them had a good answer, NON OF THEM..
i didnt have a favourite this year ( aslan i didnt feel i was watching miss leb, as if the whole show was fake, i donno y), but i really wanted Stephany Salem to win, i think she had the best allure, talita keinit a7la shi. Rosalita is cute and nice, she remembered me with Joelle El Zir ( miss leb 2003) but i dont think rosalita is a good choice, it appears to me it is a political game, from her answer last week ( may chidiac) but plz, no offence.

any way i wish her a good year and hope she will represent lebanon in the best way!!
see you next year in Miss Lebanon 2009, i will pray inno ma nshouf shi bahdaleh ba2a ( plz lbcccccc),

stay safe
dont drink and drive !!!!!!!!!!!

Arwa Gouda and Rosalita Tawil, do you also see it?

Rosalita Tawil is the new Miss Lebanon! A Beautiful, radiant girl from Beirut was crowned last night and Im just so excited to seeing her with the crown!

- The opening dance was nice, very professional. but hey! What does an Indian dance have to do with Miss Lebanon? total identity crisis!!
- The Stage was ok, not the best, but I like the idea that Miss Lebanon is taking the risk of holding an outdoor event, I especially liked it at the very end when the wonderful fireworks started! I think this is only the second time since 1995 that Miss Lebanon was held outdoor! In 1995 it was held in an Nahr El-Fnoon and was very beautiful!
- The judges were a JOKE! many of them have nothing to do with pageantary or beauty, I wonder why Lebanon never invite International Beauty Queens or Figures! They used to get beauty experts from France and U.K back in the 1990s!
- Well, lots of the girls in the Top12 were absolutely non-deserving, I just feel sorry for the beautiful Dolly Ayyash that was eliminated on the first prime! she could have been at least a runner-up! I think thats why Ministry of Tourism asked specifically for the clip that was shown in the beginning showing all the girls with their scores!! LBC is really hangin on a string here!
- I really liked the contestant's make-up I couldn't catch the artist's name in the titr! Also the hair was nice for some girls, but other girls like Carol Meouchy and Patricia Chahine were totally ignored I guess! Just because they are no favorites doesn't mean to treat them like that!! On the other hand they went abit over the top with other contestants with the very long extensions! but all in all the hair was ok, I think the stylest was Simon Mindlek!
- The evening gowns designed by Hanna Tooma were GORGEOUS!! I felt sorry for some of the gowns being worn by unattractive lasies! I didn't absolutely like the idea that it consists of 50% of the contestants score and there were no swimsuits competition, we are luycky to have a fit winner!
- I also liked the idea that all 12 girls got to be asked by the judges, very classic, most of the answers were ready to made but some of them were genuine, I liked all the girls especially Stephanie Khattar's answer. On the other hand, Stephanie Salem answered in the worst way and still managed to get one of the highest marks 9.7!!!
- The Top6 were amazing, the best 6 I guess, it could have been perfest if Stephanie Khattar was replaced by Dolly Ayyash! I know it's impossible, but one can dream!
- Michella Haddad: After they said that all marks were adjusted to zero and that the winner will be chosen solely by the final answer, I thought this girl would be the new Miss Lebanon! She gave the best answer among the six and she looked absolutely gorgeous in that blue dress!! 2nd Runner-Up is still not bad, I wish to see her in Miss International!
- Stephanie Khattar: I think her smart answer and gorgeous gown were the only reasons she was standing in the Top6, good job, she must be proud.
- Abir Habachy: The girl is gorgeous and has the most beautiful green eyes, but she never smiles, still I liked her alot, at the beginning of the night I expected her to win, but her chances started to fall after each presentation, still a very remarkable beauty!
- Rosalita Tawil: she looks so fresh and simply stunning, Im really happy that Miss Lebanon is now going with this trend instead of choosing just beautiful girls! Rosalita's striking resemblence with Arwa Gouda makes her extra special to me as Arwa is one of my all-time favorite beauties!! And that gown looked wonderful on her, I thought it was tailored on her body right before she took the stage!
- Eliana Attallah: Another beautiful girl! she looks like a young Yusra or Nisreen Emam to me!! very nice, but there was something missing in her, I donno what but she did really great and she absolutely had the body, I think if swimsuit counts she could have won!!
- Stephanie Salem: she is pageant-patty but still so gorgeous, had a great gown, I see a small resemblence with Yara Naoum, someone told me she looks like Reem Helal, but I think her marks were abit inflated especially she answered both the Top12 and Top6 questions really badly, but still she got the 1st Runner-Up spot, she has a great body and a cute face!
Congratulations to the winners and lets hope to see at least another gorgeous Arab lady standing with Rosalita in Miss World 2008!!

Miss Lebanon 2008:

We all waited impatiently for this year's contest to start. We thought it would be earlier this year but of course with LBC expected the unexpected especially when it comes to Miss Lebanon...

We all have facebook nowadays so I'm sure many of you have seen the contestants before the first prime last night. However I was hoping to see a bit more on stage since their pictures didn't seem good enough.

Dolly Ayach, Sara Medawar, Stephanie Salem, Abir Habchy Zeian Habchy are the pretty girls in pictures but then on stage 2 of them disappointed me.
For example Stephanie has a sweet cute look and a good body but her smile is odd and I think there is something major missing in her face. Zeina looked old and less than average and didn't deserve to remain in the competition. Same thing applies to Christelle Azar, and Patricia shahin..

Dolly's out Already?!?!?!?!?

The big shocking moment was when the host announced Dolly as one of the girls to be eliminated. I was like wait a minute what has just happened here?? Could it be that the girls his naming are the ones staying??? because it can't be!! They can't eliminate someone like her who has the best face in the competition that easily... The girl looked truly shocked and about to cry.
That just to prove that anything can happen in Miss Lebanon and never to trust the results.

The judges are Incompetent:

Judges? What kind of judges were they? One that climbed everest Mountain?? The older fashion designer (whom I Havent seen one single design of her) as member of the jury every other year? Or the poem writer who kept shaking his head on every single answer he got from the contestants??? No, No, No!!! The judges should include people that have more knowledge in beauty, whether cosmetic surgeons, or make up artists, fashion designer etc...

Hosts Not Matching:

Tony Baroud and Roula Safa seemed so disconnected! They almost looked like 2 hosts presenting two different contests. When she tried to make a small joke to chill the audience Tony sounded resentful and not into what she was saying..
Next time ( I hope there will be no next time with LBC but just in case there is )please get someone that would look more suitable for this pageant like the sweet and glamorous Hilda Khalife and maybe Marcel Ghanem...

No entertainment, Just Boredom..

Well we were happy to see haifa as a guest singer but first of all her songs sounded too long ( I wonder why!!) and her performance were poor maybe because she needed dancers to make the ambiance "wel3ane" ..

The fireworks burnt a part of the decor and of course Toni tried to cover it but Haifa couldn't help herself and freaked out on stage ..

The whole thing should have been organized better, after all Miss Lebanon was one of the biggest events why can't we keep it like that?? Maybe the organization should change then the whole thing would look better and refreshed and fair..

The gowns were not that bad, but could have been better!

My favorites for the final prime are the following:

Sara Medawar: The girl has a very good presence, beautiful smile and face her only flaw is her weight maybe?? Sara may or may not end up among the five finalists.

http://photos-507.ll.facebook.com/photos-ll-sf2p/v251/238/79/734721507/n734721507_1413652_6027.jpg"

Rosarita Tawil: I never liked Rosarita in pictures I thought she looked plain, but when I saw her yesterday on stage she looked really pretty and unique, spontaneous although her answer was not that great. Rosarita may be the next Miss Lebanon.

Abir Habchy: Really pretty face and nice green eyes, but she seemed a little bit nervous on stage and her answers were not perfect. She should enjoy herself more.. Abir may end up a runner up.

Michella Haddad: She looks a little bit like Sandra Sayegh, tall, and really attractive. Not sure how far she will go though, maybe to the end??

Stephanie Salem: Stephanie looked cute, natural and proportional but she didn't impress me at all. I liked her answer and I think she may either become a winner or a runner up..

Eliana Atallah: She looked attractive confident and really tall. Looks like the girl knows how to draw attention to herself. Eventhough she may not look fit enough for the crown she may end up scoring high and never know maybe wearing the crown?? I hope not...

Stephanie Khattar: Attractive brown girl, cute smile but not good enough for the crown. She didn't know how to answer properly and took the question lightly, I wonder how she made it to the top 12 when dolly who got better swimsuit results and probably gown scores too got eliminated?!?!?!

Eliane Nemer: She has a playful personality, good body, but her face is average.

Patricia Shahine: OK looking but I don't see anything unique in her except her catwalk maybe? Her smile and her overconfidence!

Carile Me3oushi: Not a bad face, a top 5? I doubt it.

Christelle azar: The ugliest contestant I have ever seen in the history of Miss Lebanon, oh wait maybe Rita Kabbabe is equally ugly!???

Elise Ma3louf was not too good looking, she should be glad she made it to the top 18.

Finally do I have to remind you LBC of professional headshots for the conestants?? That should be a priority on your list!!

See you next week readers!!
