Experience:
·Lieutenant at the Bridgewater State Hospital with over 15 years experience with the Department of Correction
·Chairman of my town’s local Finance Committee charged with overseeing the preparation of a $50,000,000 Town Budget
· Financial Administrator of a local construction company
Education:
· Master’s Degree in Finance from Bentley College
· Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Stonehill College
·Associate’s Degree in Business Administration from Massasoit Community College
Mission:
I am dedicated to a goals oriented approach aimed at furthering the professional development of Correctional Officers throughout the state. As a union, our mission needs to be one where each Correction Officer is afforded career development opportunities as well as quality representation. This is the hallmark of a successful union. By investing in our members, we demonstrate to management, public safety professionals, and the general public that we are dedicated to providing the best services available. We are more than “guards” we are Correction Officers and it is our hard work and dedication of our members that keeps our prisons safe. As Treasurer, I will ensure through hard work and communication with our membership, that our union’s resources are supporting this mission.
Objectives:
1.) Restore integrity to the office of MCOFU Treasurer by:
o Ensuring the efficient use of funds to further the goals of our union
o Communicating with the membership on financial matters through the MCOFU Web site
2.) Empower stewards at the institutional level to:
o Act on institutional priorities:
§ Draw from a limited arbitration fund that will be established for each institution beyond what is voted on at the Executive Assembly.
o Reward active members for their participation in union activities:
§ Award scholarship money to individuals or the families of our most active members.
§ Sponsor active union members to attend Massachusetts Criminal Justice Training Courses such as the Police Academy based on their contribution to our cause.
3.) Negotiate our next contract based on quality information
o Identify the financial impact that UNDERSTAFFING has had on:
§ SAFETY of MCOFU Members
§ MANAGEMENT SPENDING INITIATIVES:
·$12 million/year at BSH for Inmate Health Care
·Management Raises
·Management Positions
o Quantify the negative effects of recent changes to:
§ Health Insurance
§ Retirement Contribution for new members
§ Decreased Departmental Spending on OUR training as management continues to offer it to NON-UNIFORMED STAFF
