Take the new RT 6 superhighway to end at far end of Carbondale, turn left and go down hill on old rt 6. At bottom of first hill turn rt on Caanon, make first left, go to bottom of hill. You will come to a double stop sign. Trun RT at firs sign and park immediately on left. You are at the entrance to the local rails to trails. You can use this trail, or about a mile out switch on left to the nicer trail. That trail is groomed when there is snow all the way to Thompson (20mi). You can also take the second stop sign and turn RT onto RT 171. Using your map head out to Pointelle. From the bar in Pointelle you can run the rail bed down to Lakewood and back (6mi). We ran a race there several years ago.

I was born in Scranton and have a summer home in Union Dale right on the trails I mention above.

Going southwest from Scranton look on the map for Thornhurst wild life management area about 20 mi outside of Wilkesberre. We train there too.

Send me any further questions sleddog@tellurian.net.
