You might like to investigate Unity and Religious Science. They're theistic in a panentheistic sense, believing that God is everywhere present, but not contained by His creation. They don't believe that Jesus was an incarnation of God, but that He was a Way-shower, something we could all become also if we were to follow His teachings, which to them is essentially about eliminating negative thinking and allowing the Infinite Mind of which we are all a part to flow through us. They have no problems with evolution, and as far as animal rights go, many congregations have a program to take in stray animals. They're kind of a blend between Eastern and Western thought.

Unitarian-Universalism and Quakerism both have transcendentalist philosophies, also, and place emphasis on the environment. Unitarians can be athiests or theists, and they enthusiastically believe in evolution.

Strangely enough, even Catholics believe in evolution. They don't place as much emphasis on the Bible as protestants do, because they believe Divine authority is also given in part to the Magisterium (Catholic hierarchy).

It was just two years ago or so that the pope declared that catholics can believe in evolution. I think that the reason was that he couldn't contradict science more; otherwise the church would lose many believers. From all the scriptures, saints etc.. i found only saint Francis to be clearly for the respect of nature and the animals.chadi21:29:50 01/06/03 Mon
