But the opening night party was a can of decidedly mixed nuts. Looking over my little list of who’s naughty AND nice, I see that Boy George and George Michael and Michael Jackson occupied a men’s room stall trying to get a glimpse at the latest Caulkin bro (Macauly’s a bit long in the tooth). Chadi’s kibosh on self-pleasure curtailed any shenanigans from this trio of randy gropers; celebrity Buddhists Keanu Reeves, Richard Gere, and Leo DiCaprio put in an appearance before heading out to the Viper Room for some hallucinogenic high-jinks; Calista Flockhart seemed to enjoy the vegetarian hors-d’oeuvres but then hightailed into the ladies room from which we heard a searing “braaaaap” (they say Lara Flynn Boyle was in a duet with her the next stall over. I don’t blame either one of them—when confronted with mashed chickpeas, boy, do I falafel!); feared suburban Society matriarch, Glenda Yenta, was seen wearing the exact same cornflower blue Vera Wang atrocity she wore to the “Hairspray” opening (did Mr. Yenta lose the big contract down at the firm?); Viscoutness Gloria “Puffy” Breem, who is rumored to have briefly entertained Chadi in Lady Vestibule’s topiary, looked fresh as a daisy, or, more specifically, as fresh as a daisy returning from its monthly Botox party; Viscount “Roddy” Breem was seen briefly with the remains of Bianca Jagger (news bulletin, Roddy: the days of cocaine and velvet ropes are over—Chadi represents the dawning of the new abstemious kill-joy ubermensch ).
