However parts of kata are used in real combat. There seems to be a confusion about kata and form. kata is a traditional set of techniques put together. But a form can be any few techniques put togehter. so I would suggest that small and effective forms are neccessary for combat not katas. they speed the mind and body which can play a vital role in real combat.
