- P Party - Bar -- The "Pot Man", 11:07:44 09/05/08 Fri
All
Just a quick reminder that there will be a bar at the "P Party" tomorrow night, but that to get served, you will need ID to prove you are 18. You wouldn't want to see "parents" getting carted off to "prison" for serving underage would you!!!!!!!
We need lots of "people" to be "present" - so "publicise" and "promote"

Car Boot -- b, 11:37:58 08/30/08 Sat
Here's Alice's message....and btw if you can't get Car Boot Donations to Beyton on 6th Sept, leave a message on here & we'll figure something out! PLEASE GIVE ALICE SOME HELP, Squaddies...this isn't a one-person job, and it's for YOU!
Hi everybody! I hope everyone has had a great summer! Just leaving a note to remind you that you need to bring in all of your car boot goodies on the 6th September to our rehearsal at Beyton Middle school! If possible everyone should bring in at least 15 items (big or small) so we can raise lots of money! There will be a prize for the person who brings in the most!
The actual car boot will take place of the 7th of September in Woolpit. If anyone needs directions don't hesitate to ask! We still need more volunteers to help out! Thank you to everyone who has already offered, Woolpit won't know whats hit them! hehe!
Thank you... Alice Laidlerxxx

LOST STUFF!! -- Zoey (Worried), 10:21:53 08/26/08 Tue
Ello.
I am about 90% sure I took my front door key to summer school with me.
Aaaaand I've lost it.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand not ONLY that but my digistick/USB pen is on the keyring.
It's a pink slightly spongey USB pen, there's a soft small ginger cat keyring and one with a picture of a psychotic looking cat on it which says 'Live for the day, scare a toddler' as well a key. Obviously.
If anyone knows where it is can they get back to me ASAP as it's incredibly important that I get that back.
Thank you

Summer School 2008 HELP!! -- Zoey (Creative), 19:27:02 08/24/08 Sun
Okies, for those who don't know last year I made a little slide showy video thing with lots of pictures from the 2007 Summer School, and I'd like to do another one for this year.
However, whilst I do have lots of pictures I don't seem to have ANY with Dan (the drummer) or Tom Abraham (sorry if I spelt that wrong!!) Neither do I have any pictures of the younger peeps.
So if anyone does can you please email them to me because I don't want to leave anyone out of it.
Thank you!!!!

- voice squad funding -- Alex Al-Zog, 14:16:52 08/21/08 Thu
hey guys,
waitrose bury st edmunds has a new scheme called community matters, its where 3 "good causes" from the local community are nominated to share a portion of £1000 pounds. the voice squad is one of the three, the other two are a cancer charity and st nicholas hospice.
the way it works is that customers of waitrose go through the checkouts and recieve a green token, they can then put this token in either of the three boxes located at the front of the store, (the voice squad on is in the middle, they are labelled btw).
at the end of it (20th sept i think) the tokens are counted and the £1000 is distributed to the three "good causes" in relation to how many tokens they have in their designated box. (the more tokens the more money)
at the moment the voice squad is behind in the amount of tokens, so please go to waitrose, buy something and put the token in the voice squad box. one is given out with every purchase. if you don't get one ask for one.
please go there and give your support
hope it doesn't sound to confusing
thanks
Alex xx

I have a contact name and phone number if you would like to pursue this.

Hey y'all! -- b (less knackered than I expected), 13:20:00 08/17/08 Sun
Wanted to say well done for a very exciting show last night! Loads of the acting work made me ROAR with laughter... the band was just Strawberry (Getting out...masterpiece/ Power of Love...a real achievement on several fronts :-))... there were many moments of gorgeousness in the dance department (esp Ella's face at the opening of the show, Lizzie Mann in Senza and Lizzie A in the finale)... so many songs that people managed to learn in such a short time - I was particularly proud of WLA Egyptian, Potiphar, Footloose, Billy's debut as a solo artist - well, everything really. And the Tecchie work this year was also superb - loved the graphics, the film-work, compositions, and even forgot at some stage that it was actually students running the the show.
Also a really lovely week in the team-work outside classes, and that you were all such fun to be with. An extra thank you to Rachel and James for taking on the Pastoral stuff... that was sterling and valuable work.
See some of you in September - those of you who are too far away for that, either move or visit us on the Message board every now and then!!
So long, and thanks for all the fish...all week long!
xxx

Another Summer School is over. I had a great time as always. Highlight 1 - doing "Potiphar" (thanks Kat for asking me). Highlight 2 - singing "Four Strong Winds" at thursday evening's Cabaret (thanks Elfi for the lovely guitar accompaniment and wonderful harmonies). Scariest moment- trying to do all those steps for "Footloose". Most breathless moment - the chorus for "Can't Stop The Beat" (so many words to sing in so short a time!).

More Squad girls (and boys) need to chat about uniform please! -- b (gently pleading), 14:05:10 07/23/08 Wed
What about blue skinny long sleeved tops under w-coats? The boys' tie Beth found looks great as do the girls' w-coats, and cheap!. Tho I got the impression the boys were keen to try w-coat/ cummer bunds etc and be a bit more upmarket?

Senior Squaddies' Cancer Memorial Celebration Gig -- b (:-)), 17:37:55 07/19/08 Sat
Could everyone please let everyone know these messages have gone up! Ta...
Date:
Saturday, September 20, 2008
Time:
9:00pm - 10:00pm
Location:
A School just outside Norwich: details tbc
City/Town:
Norwich, United Kingdom
This will be the second year of this event
which is for both remembering and celebrating the life of people taken by cancer and rejoicing and recognising those that have survived. Various organisations enter relay teams that get sponsorship for walking around this high school playing field through out the evening and night finishing the following morning. One of the highlights of the event is when all the remembrance candles are lit at dusk which then turns to one of celebration.
They would love the opportunity of having Voice Squad to start the proceedings and to sing a couple of times during the event.

Gemma and everyone!
How would you feel about moving the party to the half-term week? Hannah Shipley's Dad has been chatting with other parents who'd like to set up a Barbecue for us... I thought maybe that should happen while there's a chance of warm weather and we can get lots of families involved, and then we could party indoors the week before we go.
What do you think?

Choir of the Year Info. -- b (way too excited), 11:50:24 07/04/08 Fri
Dear Senior Squaddies…
Here is a letter with my BIGGEST congratulations on your BBC Choir of the Year Achievement! I confirm that you have been selected for the Category Finals to be held at the Philharmonic Hall, Liverpool on the 8th November this year, 2.30pm – 5.45pm. We will be running coaches, and inviting the Cadets to attend as part of their training to move into the group, and as a WHACKING GREAT CELEBRATION of the achievement of this group!
The BBC Choir of the Year is the UK's largest singing competition, was launched in 1984 and created by Kallaway to provide a nationwide shop window for the best of amateur singing groups. You are now among six youth choirs nationally to reach the category final of Radio 3's Choir of the Year. If we go on to win our category we would compete with the winners of the other groups, adult, open and childrens, live on BBC four later this year. As they mentioned at the Basingstoke round, our groups were part of the hundred that had been selected from 1,000 Nationwide entries…Choir of the Day was already something to be proud of at Basingstoke!
WHAT NOW???
MONEY: We need to raise the best part of £5,000 to cover transport to and from Liverpool, new uniform for up to 50 singers, and additional rehearsal days….any suggestions greatly appreciated, ESPECIALLY if you are prepared to follow them through and not leave me with all the work! My new contact details are:available from me personally or via LMA.
REHEARSALS: extra commitment is essential as the standard is WAY, WAY beyond anything previously encountered in our history. With the greatest respect to family lives, I’d really like people to avoid booking other stuff on top of regular Saturday rehearsals please! This was part of the commitment we talked about a year ago which is starting to slip again…
The following EXTRA dates are booked as a starting point (I am not planning on charging extra if possible – we need to raise funds!):
-12th July, 10-1.00, ODDFELLOWS HALL, WHITING ST.
-19th July, 10-2.00, same venue, with picnic and team-building larks in the Abbey Gardens -2-4pm (or in the Hall if raining). Bring food! Can we have some yummy celebration cakes to share? Anyone up for baking let me know asap please, and your propsed flavour/ format!
-A possible couple of days in the holidays for outings/ rehearsals…where shall we go? How about a day of treasure hunts in Thetford forest? Trips to a show?
(REHEARSALS CONT…)
6th September, 10-5, same venue. Shall we have a party in the evening? Who wants to organize it, if “yes”?
-I’d like a day in half-term also….so here’s the next test! Could I please have your half-term availability? ASAP!!!
So far, despite continual requests, I believe I have not received holiday commitment dates from the following:
Harry, Joel, Beth B, Oivia, Georgia, Bethany, Naomi, Kat G, Megan ( I think), Julia (I think), Shannon, Matt. Commitment and co-operation are part of the respect that I think you should have for each other and for me. I can’t fix rehearsals/ fun days out if I don’t know when people are available.
CONCERTS:
We need to put in several of these on weekends in Sept/ Oct… please KEEP UP with these as they come in!!! I am still not happy with last minute drop outs… it needs to be a team effort!
CLOTHES:
We need really smart stuff to wear. Some choirs turn up in full evening wear, and to underdress would be a major error! Thinking caps on: sketches from those of you interested in design please! I would also like to invest in off-stage T-shirts, logo-ed and embellished with logos of any sponsorship that is raised!!
RECENTLY JOINED SENIORS/ CADETS MOVING UP:
Olivia, Bethany, Gabby, Ellie, Rachel, Caitlin, Claire, Georgia, Helen and Hannah…
You will need to attend all sessions starting 12th July (please let me have your holiday availability), and I may ask to see small groups of you for a private starter session. Please understand that this is a seriously major event and that moving into seniors doesn’t guarantee you’ll be selected to sing in Liverpool. I cannot put people onstage whom I don’t consider to be ready just out of sympathy! That would be unfair on all members!
LEAVERS:
I need individual confirmation from you if you are interested in still taking part, detailing in WRITING:
-where you’re going/ term dates/ how many rehearsals youu will DEFINITELY be able to attend. Please don’t offer dates that you may then find yourself cancelling!!
HOORAH! HOORAH! HOORAH!
Lots of love,
Birgitta
