I would just like to say that 3 out of 4 Barbers, a marwood, a calthorpe, a couple of kenyons, a robson and a few others went to see Birgitta in a show on Friday night and it was AMAZING!!!!!!!!! The things our beautiful B can do is endless. Just thought id let everyone know how fantastic she is and wanted to tell her that we all LOVE her to pieces!

I love my play humungously and am looking forward to being someone else for a night!...slightly perturbed about the feat of memory required: you can say a real lot of lines in 35 mins (well, 10 pages-worth, to be exact) - especially at the speed she talks! But she is lovely, and I am raring to go!

Just thought I'd share with you that...
last week I had 3 assessments on a week's notice (Duet song, duet scene, shakespeare monologue...all with no voice - ouch)
and this week I moved up into the 2nd year group.
We had sightreading assessments (poems and prose extracts) - with no warning, as it was sightreading. And An assessment today of a song & scene we met for the first time on Tuesday... Evita workshop with a choreographer tomorrow on "Buenos Aires" which we were given to learn yesterday by memory for tomorrow... took me about 5 hours... yowch!
And have to read an Ibsen play for next week... hoorah...when?
Not to mention my Postgraduate play 23rd March - as I am the only postgrad that leaves me onstage for 1/2 hour by myself. I am doing a play by Alan Bennett (Talking Heads) called "A Bed Among the Lentils" which you are most welcome to trot along to Hitchin and watch... except it's not really suitable for under 16's, or thereabouts. Should be on 5.45 till 6.15...
Let me know if you're interested as there are v limited spaces.

But good news for the Music team! Our glorious leader Nick Sheeham is developing our latest weapon in the battle for more points! The MUSIC TEAM BADGE! and the best bit is he's doing all this at the same time as being a legend and singing extraordinarily well at the last VS Cadets concert

Any hoo, I'm off to America in a few weeks to work following the uk tour of Pirates of Penzance i just finished to go and tour there whcih will be fun but means i wont be home for ages as i am there for four months but i hope after that we can meet soon for drinket!

Hi to all bird girls. Anyone having trouble finding red or white corsets should try out an ebay shop i have found.(don't worry they are not second hand!) Go onto ebay, click onto ebay shops and type in superstar designer wear in the shop name field. Then click on the superstar designer wear heading which will take you to the shop. ONE OR TWO PEOPLE HAVE E-MAILED ME ABOUT CLOTHES, so here are some thoughts for the groups about the character you needs to develop & therefore what stuff you need to be looking out for.
ALL CAST: CHARACTER THINKS
Please develop your characters by using the following questions as your starting point…
????????Name, age, attitude,height (will change with your posture, which will be dictated by your attitude) family/ friend relationships with others in your group. Personal likes & dislikes in practical terms (food, colour, holidays) and in general terms (morals, entertainment…). How does your group get on with the other groups… maybe don’t pre-decide this too much, but watch out for how you feel about their attitude, & develop your relationships from there????????
GROUP COSTUME THINKS
WICKS…..I will supply you with combats, if I have enough that fit. The rest of your costume needs to be dictated by your character: find stuff for yourself. Use yellow & brown, & be able to move (think monkey). Please wear your shoes (no jazz shoes) to Sunday rehearsals. You may have props & accessories. Don’t forget your hair…no tails or actual monkey ears!
BIRD GIRLS…..I will supply you with the majority of your costume, or with bits for making it. You need shoes (either red or white) that fit your character. Please wear these to Sunday rehearsals.
WHOS…..You need to establish your character & profession (job) within the Who community, & within your family: this will dictate your outfit. Whos are quaint & quirky people, so try to avoid anything too matching or modern (unless your character requires it) & remember to consider your silhouette! Everything must be in shades of purple (except the Grinch), with as little black as is humanely possible. You also need to provide yourself with a musical instrument, preferably purple and wacky (can be self-made, with spirally bits sticking off, or ribbons/ flags etc). Shouldn’t be too enormous (unless your character requires it) and should contribute to an interesting silhouette. Hair is a mad concoction of plaits, bunches, buns, hats, ribbons etc. Be imaginative!

my brain has stopped working. i'm in panto overload.
9:30am-10pm everyday with only monday's off and i'm surrounded by 7 crazy dwarfs, with 2 of them who can't speak english and a man who dresses as a woman for a living!!! i have done sooooooooooo much washing and ironing of smelly costumes i'm sick of it!! only another 19 performances to go!!
but ho hum, it's fun and it's all paying for my trip to new york in 3 weeks time!!

I was looking through some of my old stuff and found Dr Seuss's book of bed time stories. Which funnily enough has this particular story in it:
'HORTON HEARS A WHO!'
On the fifteenth of May, in the Jungle of Nool,
In the heat of the day, in the cool of the pool,
He was splashing...enjoying the jungle's great joys...
When Horton the elephant heard a small noise.
So Horton stopped splashing. He looked towards the sound.

A Buzzing and eventful term already!!! Scores have been achieved through general knowledge (subjects covered include ornithology, Guy Fawkes & the Queen’s Shoe size), specific performing arts savvie (particularly in the Musical Theatre end-of-term quizzes) and in general helpfulness & LMA Spirit. There will be no winning team for the trophy till the Easter break, when we have had the system in flight for a full term under the guidance of team captains. These will be nominated at 1.20pm on Saturday 6th Jan, in the Broadway room… it is recommended that as many members be present as possible, as team captains may be picked from any age group and class… Points are still being picked up during the holidays by people attending auditions, helping out at shows, putting useful stuff on the message board… etc.. We may need some help over the holidays with leaflet distribution & Summer School mail-packing, for any keen point-earners (e-mail/ ‘phone if you’re available).

I guessed no one would read this if it was in the general cast list, so here are some more details.
1/ REHEARSALS: Broadway C groups are re-organised this term to accommodate rehearsals. If you are a Nool citizen please come to the 2.25 class. If you are a Who come at 4.15. Any problems, e-mail me. The Sunday rehearsal schedule will be up within the next week.
2/ Would you please e-mail me with your choice of stuff you would prefer to help with:
Set-building/ Costume-making/ Prop-making/ Print-work/ Poster or programme copying (erm, cheap)/ help setting up for the show/ help clearing up after the show/ script librarian/ raffle organiser/ make-up artist... PLEASE NOTE that everyone will be asked to pitch in, so state your preference before I lump you with a job that you hate!
