I do a lot of TIG welding with mild (1018) steel. I have noticed other TIG weld beads that are smooth and cleanly finished, however, my welds typically have a crater or dimple at the end points. I have tried slowly lowering the current at the end of the bead, abruptly stopping, quickly pulling away the torch, you name it. What is the secret of beads with nice clean termination points?
