Debra,

I am so sorry to hear about your son. I don't know much about suboxin. My husband was only addicted to heroin for 6weeks. He then went on Methadone. I will tell you that I feel that the best option is to put your son in a long term rehabilitation program. Suboxin might help him with withdrawls, but the program is the key. I am not trying to scare you, but the threat is very real. My husband went off of Methadone in April of 06 and on June 30, 2006 he died of taking one shot of heroin because his body wasn't tolerant of it anymore. He died very shortly after injecting. He was only 34 years old with a wife, 4 step children and a new baby on the way. Heroin is very dangerous and very addictive. It causes physical pain for up to two years after being clean. Your son also must stay away from any opiates for his lifetime. I'm sure you know a lot of this, I just don't want to see another young person or anyone lose this battle. Please try to get your son into a long term facility. Check at a local Teen Challenge (he doesn't have tobe a teen). That is really inexpensive and bible based. If you have excellent insurance or a lot of money, try searching the web and you will get some facilities in CA that have wonderful programs. Good luck to you. Show this to your son. It will show him how real the danger is. God Bless.
