I know you mean well with your advice, but you come off as a holier than thou reformed addict. Not everyone can quit cold turkey. What works for one doesn't always work for eveyone. I can agree that smoking pot might not be the best advice, but calling for help is a good idea, not a bad one. Many times people need help with coping with the reality of their problems and they need help in sorting out what to do with the mess they've made. Not everyone can find sobriety as easily as you did. You were 13 when you quit. Imagine the baggage someone 40 years old carries around. Probably a lost spouse, lost children, lost career. You can't always compare yourself to the rest of the world.
