Unfortunately, it takes years for improvement. Since 2000 we have been working on a long-term treatment facility. This spring of 2005 the ground will be broken for a long-term treatment program. We're going to have a multi-tiered program anywhere from 6 months to 18 months. There is also a committee working on opening a transitional housing project for men. We are making progress. But it does take a long time and in the meantime people are suffering from a lack of programs. The more people who demand treatment the sooner we will have what we need. I'm asking all of you to join us in this endeavor. Come to HACCC's meeting on November 18 at the County Office Building, Public Meeting Room #3, at 7:00 pm. We will discuss these issues. Help us make a difference. When you demand treatment it eventually makes people listen.
