Dear Reader,
The following is a small explanation of an important piece of research into how people seek help if they have ever used heroin.

I have been visiting message boards such as this one to find out about people's experiences with heroin and treatments to ensure that I understand what individuals have gone through (as much as a non-user can). Also, to take the opportunity to present my PhD research to you. The aim of this post is to get people who have used heroin (even just once) to go to a website that contains a survey that investigates this topic. The research will help us to understand how and why people seek help. By knowing this we can make treatment options more suitable and appealing to those who are in need. The survey takes about 45-60 minutes and is COMPLETELY anonymous and confidential. There is no way to link a person's response with any computer, house, phone line, etc. The survey can be found at

http://www.media.swin.edu.au/surveyor/survey.asp?s=01180050135

I urge anyone who has ever tried heroin (even once) to participate in this research. Also, to forward this link to anyone else you may believe would like to participate. The more people that receive this link will help to strengthen the outcomes of this research. I realise that this method of gaining participants is quite forward and I hope that anyone who feels uncomfortable will forgive my attempt to find participants for my research. Please email me at heroin_study@yahoo.com.au if you would like to know more about the research or visit www.heroinhelper.com

On a personal note.....the strength and sadness of the people I have come into contact through my counselling and research in this area has always astounded me. Thank you for allowing me to glimpse your world.

Thank you for your time and consideration!
Natalie Rinehart (PhD researcher)
