I decided to post a message tonight because I am a recovering heroin addict and I have two very specefic problems. First, there are a lot of times I could use advice or someone to talk to (vent near) due to the frustration that seems to be the aftermath of this addiction. Problems like twitchy legs, insomnia, and flashbacks (the memory kind, not the hallucinatory kind) have been recurring and I do not believe that there is nothing at all that can be done. Secondly, I have felt an overwhelming desire to contribute somehow to people getting better. My sobriety is the result of my own choices and effort, but that effort would not have been possible without the help of several people who helped me get out and away from my situation. Accordingly, I'd like to do that for other people if at all possible. I've been clean roughly a year and have found the NA and AA program to be ineffective in my area. If anyone wants to talk and either offer help or ask for it, I'd much appreciate the contact and the opportunity to keep this problem in my own line of sight. I check my e-mail more often than I can check this board, but I'll be near both.
Thanks in advance,
Chase
