Hi, I am David Shrubsole - I live in Devon now, but moved here from the Surrey area where I was born in 1951.My dad is called Ronald Maurice Shrubsole, and was from Maidenhead, born in 1917. My dad had a brother Geoff (maybe Jeff) who died in the 2nd world war, and two sisters Grace and Rene, all older than him. Geoff married Margaret and had a son called John who had an fatal accident in Africa, maybe in the late 1960's/early 1970's. I have heard that my ancestors are from the Faversham area. I have been married for 26 years to Sue and we have two children who continue our branch of the Shrubsole name, a daughter Hanna and a son Daley. Any news regarding a family link would be appreciated.

Hi David, my uncle is also called David Shrubsole. He was born in 1962 in Kingston Upon Thames Surrey. His father (my grandfather) was called Albert Shrubsole & was a solicitor by profession. My uncle moved to Devon 10 years ago & then to Wareham in Dorset 6 years ago, where he now lives with my aunt Tracey & cousin Oliver. Are you familiar with the Shrubsole statue still standing in Kingston Town Square? It is of a woman & child, and has our characteristic 'Shrubsole nose'. A common trait in my family. It was erected in the 1880s i think, in memory of my great-great great grandfather who was mayor of Kingston twice. I wonder if our families were directly related at any point? let me know where in Surrey you are from. Kind Regards Paul Bodill

Hi,

I lived in Farncombe, near Guildford before I left Surrey for Devon. Before that it was Guildford, Elstead, Bramley and Coulsdon, with a few others dotted between where I was resident for only a few months.
