Dear Mary,
I think we have at last found someone who can Help!!!!!
My husband's father is the son of Herbert who was the son of Edwin as far as we know all the family came from Lenham,Hollingbourn and Teynham. My father-in-law was born on the Isle of Sheppey, Kent. We all live in Australia so as you can imagine this has been a slow trail to follow. Can you give me any help with details and where do you fit in the family? You have no idea how pleased I am to find you as I'm also from Gods country Kent but I come from a large family base and my tree grows every day but the is a hole on my husbands side which I wish to fill!!!!! HOPE TO HEAR BACK SOON!!!!
A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU AND YOURS!!!!!
With thanks CATHERINE SHRUBSOLE

Dear Catherine

I have just discovered your message and am sorry for this very late reply. I wonder if I might have replied to you privately before. I can't check as I have lost a lot of my information.

Anyhow, lovely to find you.

I am not directly descended from Shrubsole but Eliza
on my Gambell line married Charles Shrubsole so I am interested in tracing their descendants.

I recently did a bit of a revamp of some of my lines including Charles and Eliza and here is the result
below -

Descendants of Charles Shrubsole

1 Charles Shrubsole b: Abt. 1833 Teynham, Kent
.. +Eliza A Gambell b: Abt. 1836 Lenham, Kent, England
........ 2 Charles J Shrubsole b: 1859 Lenham, Kent
........ 2 George T Shrubsole b: 1860 Newnham, Kent
........ 2 William Shrubsole b: Abt. 1862 Lenham, Kent
........ 2 Kate Shrubsole b: Abt. 1864 Lenham, Kent
........ 2 Annie Shrubsole b: Abt. 1866 Teynham, Kent
............ +Edwin Hughes Rose b: Abt. 1868 Ashford, Kent m: Abt. December 1895 District of Maidstone, Kent
................... 3 Constance E Rose b: Abt. 1897 Maidstone, Kent
................... 3 Florence A Rose b: Abt. 1899 Maidstone, Kent
................... 3 Albert E Rose b: Abt. 1900 Maidstone, Kent
........ 2 Elizabeth Shrubsole b: Abt. 1868 Teynham, Kent
........ 2 Mercy Shrubsole b: Abt. 1870 Lenham d: 1893 Hollingbourne district
........ 2 Edwin Shrubsole b: Abt. 1879 High St. Lenham, Kent
............ +Mabel Hilarie Payne b: 1882 Egerton, Kent m: 1901 Hollingbourne district

Do let me know how you are progressing with your family tree. Regards, Mary

Hi I was wondering if you could perhaps help me. I have 2 paintings which I inherited from my grandmother. Both are of Cape Town scenes and signed C Shrubsole. I was wondering if Charles Shrubsole or any of his descendants was an artist who visited South Africa? On the back of one painting is written "Road to Camps Bay C Town" and on the other "Pniel Settlement near Stellenbosch CP. Unfortunately there are no dates on the paintings, but my grandmother would have been born in the early 1900"s.
I would love to know more about these paintings as they have great sentimental value to me.
Many thanks
Caroline Petersen

>>Dear Rosie
>>I also have two small oil paintings, also inherited from my grandmother,(Pearl Ames) and painted by C. Shrubsole. The Ames family came from Stamford in Kent. I am just new at this and would be happy to find any connections. As you can see I live in Australia, and would be happy to hear from anyone with news about the Ames family namely Basil (grandfather).I think he married a Jane Wilson, later he married my grandmother (Pearl Ames)
