I'm researching the family of my 2nd cousin who's Mother, Mabel Kate Shrubsole married Ernest Alfred German in 1915, but died in 1928 at the time of his birth. He's an old man now and knows nothing of his Mother's family except the following:
They lived in Milton next Sittingbourne where someone in the family had a drapery. She had a brother, Ernest, and another, Richard. Richard went to Canada, fought with the Canadians in the 1st WW, married a Canadian and eventually returned to Milton next Sittingbourne in Kent, where he and his wife adopted orphans, including one called Mary still alive and living in Upchurch, Kent, but too confused to be helpful. Can anyone shed any light on this family?

Yes, her son, Godfrey German is still alive and well and has her birth certificate and marriage certificate. She was born Aug 16th 1894 at Nine Ashes, Boughton under Blean, married Ernest German (b 1889) on Dec 15th 1915 at the Weslyan Church, Sittingbourne and died in 1928 from Milk fever when Godfrey was barely one month old. I also have her brother's attestation papers in the Canadian army, and have traced her ancestors back to 1660. Any help? By the way, I found "Mary" extremely lucid.
Best wishes
Hazel
