Reasearching my Treacy/Tracey/Tracy Root's
Welcome to My TREACY'S OF TIPPERARY Message Board.

I have started researching my Treacy Roots.

My Great GrandParent's were Daniel Treacy and Sera Sweeney. They married in the Roman Catholic Chapel of Solloghed in 1873.

Daniel's father's name was Patrick Treacy and was deceased at the time of thier marriage, Daniel lists his residence at the time as Solohead. Daniel worked for the Railway, He was the Gate keeper in Solohead.

Sera's Father's name was John Sweeney and she lists her residence as Doon. She also has a Katherine/Kate Sweeney as a witness (Maybe her sister)

Daniel & Sera had 12 children.

Children I know of are,Bridget, Daniel,John,Patsy,Mary, William, Catherine, Mickie and Sarah.

Catherine and Mary ( aka May) emigrated to Boston Mass.

William emigrated to Sydney Australia with a Michael Treacy, There he married and started his own Family.

Daniel,Sera their children Daniel and Sarah are buried in Clonmel. Mickie & Patsy are buried in Solohead. John is buried in Birr. Other than this I am at a dead end, I don't know when they died or whom they married.

I have located my Australian Treacy's and don't want to put their info up here as they are all still living. All inquiries on the Treacy/Tracey/Tracy name are more than welcome.

Please post as much info as you can in your query. Hopefully we can share and make connections with other Treacy researchers.

I am using all variants of the name because My Grandmother and her Sister both spelled it differently.

GOOD LUCK AND THANKS!

I'm looking to find anyone related to the Treacys of Ballingarry/Cloughjordan/Shinrone in Tipperary.

I'm got as far back as Thomas Treacy marrying an Ann Waters, they had 6 children (that's as many as I've found so far!) named;

-William (b.1864)
-Thomas (b.1866)
-Anne (b.1868, my gg-grandmother, married Timothy KIllackey)
-Patrick (b.1870)
-James (b.1872, who we believe went to the UK to become a police officer and never married (not verified))
-Christopher (b.1875) and married a Kate Cleary (b.1878)

Christopher and Kate went on to have 6 children (that I'm aware of);

-Annie (b.1904)
-Daniel (b.1906)
-Ellen (b.1908)
-Mary (b.1908)
-Thomas (b.1909)
-Kathleen (b.1910)

If you think there might be a connection, let me know, thanks.

Catherine Treacy on this forum, I tried emailing you as I think we might be relatives but it wouldn't go through, maybe you don't use that email any more

My grandmother was Katherine Kennedy with a Cashel and Tipperary association, who, in the early 1900's married Paddy Treacy in Roma Queensland, where they had an hotel. Lost hotel, went to Kalgoorlie/Boulder goldfields and worked as a miner. Issue: James, Anne, Florence, Eileen and Ellen, born 1910-1917. My great aunt Ellen lived on a farm in Kilkenny and I visited her in 1974. Her family are in Essex, I can't locate them. Katherine Kennedy's sister emigrated to USA.
Ellen (Helen) Treacy married Charles Clare Anderson and moved to Texas in 1945. Issue: twins R Treacy and Charlie Clare Anderson. She moved back to West Australia in 1952. Family scuttlebut is the Treacys owned a large farm in Ireland. As not one of the Treacy girls from our W.A. branch of the family has ever married, that I know about, and none of my aunts either married or had children of their own, I'd rather like to know about my antecedents, because I surely won't have any descendants! Would appreciate any assistance. Thankyou all and happy researching!

Hi Treacy clan! I am third generation American. My Great Grandparents, Patrick Treacy b. 1865 and Katherine (Broughlett, Walsh, Welsh, Parcett... she had lots of surnames for some reason)came to the Americas around 1903. They settled in Roselle Park, New Jersey. I was told that they were from an area called Pallasgreane in County Limerick, Ireland. Patrick's parents were John Treacy b.1831 and Catherine (Hourigan)b. 1843. My Great-Great-Great Grandfathers were James Hourigan and John Treacy. Does anyone know of these families? I would love to hear from you!

Hi
I recently discovered that I have Treacy ancestry. My great-great grandmother was Mary Anne Treacy, born around 1862 who married James Brien in 1880. Mary Anne's father was James - he had died by the time of her marriage and I do not have his date of birth. Her mother was listed as Honoria but may be Honora. On Mary Anne's marriage record the family was listed as living at Moor, Cashel.
If this rings a bell with anyone I would really welcome it if they could get in touch.
Thanks, Lee

Great to see a web link to the Treacy clan. My grandfater Daniel Treacy from Cork, came to Australia on the boats and had 5 children. My father Vince Treacy had another 4 girls me being one of them.
All 4 of us girls have lived in Ireland at one stage of our lives, and met with our cousins in Derry. Happy travelling to you all. Anyone in Australia should email me for a pint of 2...

A likely ancestor of mine, Hanora DOWNES, 22, servant of Kilmacow, daughter of John DOWNES, married John TRACY, 28, laborer of Knockfierna, son of John TRACY on 9/2/1876 (RC)- witnesses Catherine Ruddle and John White. Griffiths valuation lists a Margaret TRACY on plot 30d (Commons townland) to which John succeeds by 1873. 1901 census (#17 - Commons)shows John TREACY, 65, farm laborer, Hanora, 55, John, 27, farm laborer, Thomas, 25, farm laborer, Mary, 23 scholar, Michael, 16, scholar, Denis, 14, scholar. Land valuation show John succeeded by Hanora, then Thomas, then Rachel. 1911 census shows Hanora TREACY, 74, widow, Mary, 34, James, 31, laborer, Denis, 24, laborer.

Hi,

Does anyone have a Patrick Treacy married to a Mary? who went to reside in Troy, New York? I am trying to find where they came from in Ireland. They resided in New York before the 1860's. They had a daughter Mary E. Tracy in the 1860's.

If any of this sounds familiar please post!

May be a Burke or Lang Connection?

I am researching the Treacy's who emigrated to New Zealand in the 1800's. We think they originated from Galway and know they settled in the Central Otago region of the South Island.

I know these details are very sketchy but I am only just starting my search.

Any information anyone has re. Treacy's who emigrated to NZ would be appreciated.

Thanks

Greetings everyone!
Anyone knows where to find records or information about english soldiers who served in the WW2?
My grandfather was one of those soldiers who were forced to build two Kwai River bridges in Burma 1943.
Though he came home, he died after a short while...
My father and grandmother doesn't know anything about hes past etc...
Now i live in Sweden with my brother and divorced mother.
Tracey is the surname i carry and it would be interesting to know anything about our relatives...

Goodbye!

If you have any info relating to this lineage, please email me at alriester@cox.net. Below is what I have found (and I admit there are many people much better/quicker at this research than me.) I have more info at home with more specific dates, etc. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
If you find your info somehow relates to mine, I also have pictures of some of the people from late 1800s to early 1900s.

Go raibh mile maith agat! (thank you!)

1. Patrick & Nancy Treacy - Ireland (Galloway?) -

2. Their son Michael Treacy married Catherine Francis (Maher) Treacy - I believe immigrated to US, settled in Louisville KY.

3. Michael/Catherine's children:
my grandmother, Anna Elizabeth Treacy (b. I think 1895) & her siblings are: Joseph, John (b. 1892) (who went by O'Treacy) Aloysius, James, Catherine, Kitty, Agnes. Believe they were all born in KY but could be wrong.

4. Then the family moves to Indiana - no idea why. Anna Elizabeth Treacy (my grandmother) married Louis Boniface Riester

5. Their children, John (my father), Mary, Florence

6. John (my father) married Louise Childers.

7. John and Louise had 4 children, of which I am their youngest.

I am researching my Treacy family roots in Ireland and New York City. My great grandfather, Patrick R. Treacy, born either in 1841 or 1848 in Ireland, was a son of Hugh Treacy and Ellen Rowan. I don't know where in Ireland they were from, but I have heard that our family may be related to Sean Treacy of Tipperary, or perhaps to unknown Treacy's in County Galway. Patrick R. Treacy married Juliana Gibson and both emigrated to New York City aboard the ship Nevada, arriving in New York on May 5, 1873.

I would like to hear from anyone researching the Treacy name in Ireland who may have additional information about these Treacy family members or their ancestors.

Thanks.

I'm researching the Treacy family from Soloheadbeg, Co. Tipperary. My great-grandfather, Thomas Treacy (his father's name was John) was born about 1835. He had a brother, Denis, who was the father of Sean Treacy who was involved in the Soloheadbeg Ambush. In 1873 Thomas married Mary Carew (now the Carew family goes by the name Carey) who was probably from Soloheadbeg. The married in Solohead Church and had the following children:
John
Edmund
Timothy
Thomas (my grandfather)
Martin
Further details are available on my genealogy website www.helensfamilytrees.com
Any info. would be much appreciated.

My Treacys originated in Borrisoleigh, Tipperary.
My GG Grandfather, Patrick, came to Australia in 1854/55, with his second wife Ann Ryan and the children from his first marriage to Cath Kenney.
They settled around the Daylesford area of Victoria, Australia.
Would love to hear from any-one with connections.

I am looking for descendants of Augustine C. Treacy and Delia (Bridget) Lysaght who married in Ipswich, Queensland, Australia in about 1890. Their children were Pauline, Sylvia, Cyril (lived at Maclean, New South Wales), Augustine and Veronica.

Delia Lysaght and her family were from Doon, County Limerick, however I do not know where the Treacys originated.
