I have a Forehand Arms Co. .32 Caliber Pistol with 5 in. Barrel. Here is what I found!
FOREHAND ARMS CO. WOROESTS MASS.U.S.A.
PAT.JAN.11NOV.29’87JAN3’88. or ° AT.JAN.11NOV.29’87JAN3’88.
On the cartridge is stamped and the number 1 seams to be in a stamped circle: 3108
This mite be the SS number.

1831-1837 E. Allen Grafton, Bellingham, Massachusetts
1837-1842 Allen & Thurber, Ethan Allen (Allen
lived from 1806-1871) and his brother-in-
law Charles Thurber established a gunsmith
business in Grafton, Massachusetts, making
pistols, especially pepperboxes.
1842 The company moved to Norwich, Connecticut.
1847 The company moved to Worcester,
Massachusetts.
1854-1856 Allen, Thurber & Company, 1854 Thomas P.
Wheelock, brother-in-law to Ethan Allen
became a partner forming the company name.
1856-1865 Allen & Wheelock, Thurber retired in 1856
and the company changed its name.
1864 Partner Thomas Wheelock died.
1865-1871 E.Allen & Company, After Wheelock’s death
in 1864: Ethan Allen and his two sons-in-
laws formed a partnership Sullivan
Forehand and Henry C. Wadsworth, name
change to the company agin.
The company made pistols, especially
pepperboxes and single-shot pistols.
1871-1890 Forehand & Wadsworth, Ethan Allen died in 1871 and his son-in-laws successors continued
the business under their own names in
Worcester, Massachusetts.
1890-1902 Forehand Arms Company 1890-1898, Wadsworth
retired in 1890, the firm began trading
under a new name.
1898 Sullivan Forehand died.
1902 Hopkins & Allen, Forehand Arms Company
continued manufacturing ran by its heirs
and ceased operations in 1902 when
operations where taken over by Hopkins &
Allen.

A .32 or .38 caliber double – action revolver with a hinged barrel and cylinder assembly.

I'm also looking for imformation on IdealManufacturing Co.
I have a shot gun 12 gauge single shot that was my grand dad's. I know Ideal made reloading stuff but nothing about guns. Someone mentioned Sears, Roebuck & Co.,nothing.I know Marlin Firearms bought Ideal out in 1908 or 1910.
