Subject: VA Concedes Herbicide Use

The VA conceded use of herbicides on the perimeters of all US-occupied bases in Thailand in my claim.

The evidence used were the USMACTHAI/JUSMAGTHAI Memorandum "Mission Policy on Base Defense", "Project CHECO: Base Defense in Thailand", pictures of the bases, and evidence of my duties as a MWDH at U-Tapao and Korat, 1971-1973. Another case was approved in St.Petersburg FL by a SP during the same period. Another in Montana for an SP is moving forward, and a MWDH from Lousiana's is also. The claims are for direct exposure, not for presumption. They are limited to post 1970 and to perimeter duties. Hope this helps those having problems.

How in the world did you get that information???

I did all I could, yadda yadda, & kept getting shot down.
I was an SP at Korat from January 9th , 1974 - 75. Worked in customs for seven months & then the base perimeter, & off base munitions area. I have the diabetes, & other problems that nobody else on either side of my family has ever had. I ended up w/ a spinal injury from an exercise on the perimeter in an APC, (TSgt Grube was my Flt Chief & SSgt Sprouse.) & am receiving presently a 60% w/ "individual unemployability" - rated at 100%.. I got "lucky".. I know my way around the VA after 32 years. But, I'd rather get totally rated. With all my problems, your information would be a God send. Kurt,
I got my case approved in April 2010, Agent Orange as an K-9 stationed at NKP, 72-73. I got 20% for Diabetes. I also used the CHECO report. Thanks.
