I don't know if we were in the same unit, but I served with the 315th in 71-72. My 1st dog's name was Sugar, if you remember he did not have a tongue. I also had a Dog by the name of Shadow. Sugar was put to sleep after the middle of my tour. I'm sorry that I do not have their serial numbers. I lost all of my letters and photos while I was state side at Goodfellow AFB. I wish you well and hope you reply.

I was in the 35th & 315th SPS, Phan Rang AB, from March 71 to Feb 72. Towers and Bunkers, Panter Flt, nights. First floor second barracks in from the SP Orderly Room, which was across the street. Room dog was Mark Brahans. Still got my red shoulder patch. I only talked with K-9 folks when they came up to the tower to chat or needed someone to agravate the dog. I sure miss alot of good folks from there.

Carrasco and Vaughn:
I remeber Sugar, never could figure out how he drank, and I certainly remeber that long legged Shadow chasing me into an empty kennel one morning after post. I handled Hey Boy X640 and REX, both solid black. Hey Boy was put down when we closed the kennel, and Rex went with me to Cam Rahn. 7-71, 3-72 Phan Rang, 4-72 to 5-72 Cam Rahn.

sir i served cam ranh bay v. n. dec 3 of 69 to 3 dec 70 with 483rd s.p.s. did lp s.a.t. bunker duty and time beyond the wire and k 9. could always depend on them. after 45 stright nights on phantom flt. joined a 16 man vol. unit, i keep in touch with steve janke he was k 9 at c.r.b. 70 71. i believe its way past time that k9 and their service to the military no matter what branch of service k9 past ,present, now and the future should have a stamp printed by the postal service to honor those men and their buddies the furry friend you will never forget. a brother in arms whom was always their for you and give his life for you steves head of or vspa his e mail is jank953208aol.com its just time this is done with the prombles we are having in the middle east our k9s are and handlers are doing a very hard job under extrime condtions thanks wayne f. sieckmann 24296 hwy 98 boonville mo. 65233

In March of 67/68, I started with B flight, then went to Pather flight, I worked the towers and strike teams, I talked to many of the k-9s that were around the towers, moved to security weapons room and law enforcement weapons room to finish the year in hell. When the SP book comes out you can see 2 pictures of the weapons room at that time. At present I am the VSPA BX manager.
