Where of Where -- Dog, 17:12:03 05/08/07 Tue
Where or where did you disappear to after your show at Schubas? You must have been out of there on the dot at 9:45, off to some randome burrito place I imagine. Catch up with you next time.

P.S. - Southern Culture on the Skids was very amusing, but they need a power organ refugee from the '70's like Skipper.

- I'm a slacker, but holy shit -- Hot Mary, 10:36:43 04/20/04 Tue
I just (finally) saw the pictures from SXSW. First of all, no one told me about the Fairmount Productions Family. (¿Que?)
And Goodtime's eyes are mesmerizing in these pictures. I think they're colored contacts.
But Holy Shit on an Apostle's Doorstep, the fact that you guys met my fantasy boyfriend Johnny Knoxville makes me green, fushcia and plaid with envy. I wish I'd just sprung for the plane ticket now.
- Hot Mary, or just Merrie.
P.S. "Famous" Dancing Sisters? EXCUSE ME? Boy, when the cat's away, huh girls?...The Sisters be hearing from the Go-Go Girls' lawyer. No one hones in on our boys just because they're out of town.
I think I can take them, but I'm trying to practice non-violence nowadays, at my parole officer's suggestion. But someone needs to get that one Sister a cheeseburger, and stat.

Just when you think The Goldstars can't get any more fantabulous, they go and knock your socks off with a wild, furious, rock show of legendary proportions.
Check out the groovy reviews (of the CD not the party) that I've finally gotten around to putting on the web site.

It's been a while since I've posted in here. I must be slipping.
Caught them Goldstars fellas at the Beat Kitchen on May 30. They were totally rockin! As per usual. They've got a new tune that Mr. Dag sings...excellent! And rumor has it that they've been in the studio again. I think someone said the results of these sessions just may be released perhaps maybe sometime in September? Mmmm, goodie goodie!

Chicks dig the Goldstars! I noticed that most of the messages on this board are by women. I've also noticed that women tend to veer toward the stage wiggling seductively while the Goldstars are playing. One particular evening, I noted on a trip back stage, that of the four bands playing that nite ONLY the Goldstars had girls hanging out with them. I think it's the sexy tunes.
Just thought I'd share...The Goldstars are playing February 6th at the Double Door. Bring a date or maybe, just maybe, if you edge up to the dance floor and rock out...well, who knows?

The Goldstars have a new gig on the books! Jan 7 at The Double Door. Check out the GIGS page for more info.
The Goldstars also have a pre-release CD sometimes maybe perhaps available at the gigs for only $5, so make sure you get yer mits on that one! There aren't many available and they're going fast, so make sure you get out to The Double Door Jan 7!
Speaking of Jan 7, looks like it's gonna be a great night for garage rock lovers. There are three other bands playing so definitely a whole lotta bang for your buck.

- HOT MARY moonlights as Steve Martin's Hot French barmaid -- Merrie "Hot Mary" Greenie, 10:35:15 11/21/02 Thu
Sooo, as Doob mentioned, yes I am in a play, but because I suck at advertising, you only have 2 more performances to see it! And this is one of the last times you'll get to see me dressed like a girl in a play.
Info:
"Brandon Bruce's revival fully captures the anarchic spirit of Steve Martin's wild and crazy historical fantasy...New Leaf's staging is just what the jester ordered." - CHICAGO READER
Critic's Choice - WINDY CITY TIMES
Hello, purveyors of fine comedy,
Just a little heads-up that closing night is fast approaching for the production of Steve Martin's Picasso at the Lapin Agile (I perform Germaine). I had a wonderful showing of Poseidoners at the final matinee - thanks! We close Sat., November 23rd, & tix are only $10.00 CHEEP! And the play is about 1 hour and 15 minutes. SHORT!
Its regular showtimes are FRIDAYS & SAT NIGHTS @ 8:00 pm, so come see PICASSO, and then you can go see other terrific shows*. See it on a Friday, it's easier to get a better seat. Everyone is required to stick around afterwards and say hi, since I have to change out of 6 layers of clothing!
New Leaf Theater presents its inaugural production:
PICASSO AT THE LAPIN AGILE, that v. funny play by STEVE MARTIN.
Directed by Brandon Bruce
Featuring Cheryle C. Caplinger, Ben Goldman, Merrie Greenfield, Shaun
Himmerick, Scott Markwell, Eric Paskey, Christopher Prentice, Aris
Tompulis, and Bob Weagant.
Where: We perform at New Leaf's new space, inside the charming, historic Lincoln Park Cultural Center:
2045 N. Lincoln Park West
(just northeast of Clark & Armitage, entrances on Lincoln Park West and on the corner of Stockton and Dickens - #156 bus from downtown, #22 Clark bus from the North side - see attached map)
WHEN: ONLY 2 WEEKENDS LEFT!
Runs Fridays & Saturdays at 8:00 pm
Closes Saturday 11/23
Cost: $10 for all remaining performances
Reservations: 773-463-2575

Keeeripes man! I can't believe I haven't gotten here before now to tell the walls of this oddly yellow room how great the show was last weekend! The show was great...thought the combination of The Goldstars and Los Straitjackets was muy perfecto y muy bueno y muy fantastico...y other muy stuff as well. The place was packed with with wall to wall wild music lovers and everyone danced!! So it was a particularly charged evening for me...I do so love it when everyone gets out there and dances.
I have to admit, it was a night I'll never forget... especially stuff that happened after the show. I recall a guy in a bunny suit, Frank Sinatra music, very tiny little drinks...ahem...but that's all I'm telling you about that!
I hear Hot Merrie's gonna be in another play, eh? Post the info Mer!
Checked out The Million's website (link available on The Goldstars' Gigs page) and they sound pretty cool! So come out to see the Next Show Nov 27 BEAT KITCHEN!!
Now, I'm crawling back into bed with my new humidifier, echinacea, and the ambrosia known as cherry-flavored NyQuil!! Goodnite!

- Another fabuloramic, rocktastic, dance-oh-rama from The Goldstars! -- DoBee, 17:17:58 10/15/02 Tue
Another show so great it took me three days to recover enough to talk about it. MALES ON THE DANCE FLOOR ACTUALLY MOVING TO THE MUSIC! Hot & sexy! YUM! The Goldstars totally rocked so much so that I don't think I lifted my head to actually look at them...just danced like the goofy, drunk fool that I usually am. I did notice the band wore a whole lot of black...cool rock stars fer sure!
The next gig is November 2nd at the Empty Bottle!!

Ahhh Hoghead McDunna's, the venue where I first saw The Goldstars...I remember it well. I drank too much rum & coke thus taking crap photos and groovy go go girls gave me sparkly star stickers. I flirted with the bartender and he gave me a free drink. Yes, I like that place and I like the band...so I'll be there! How about YOU?

So, great gig last nite! Hope you got to see the show! The overly drunk guy (There's always one, eh? Thank God it wasn't ME this time.) didn't seem to know the difference between Go Go Dancers and strippers, but I think the girls were all too happy to take his money. Ah, but anyway it was a great show...The Goldstars rocked and the other bands were good too.
Personal observation from spending too much time in bars dancing my booty off...men should dance!! It's sexy...chicks dig it! Even if you look retarded doing it, dancing is way better than just standing there staring like a serial killer or dominating the dance floor while flipping the band off. At least bob your head a little. Just my opinion.
In other news, being web chick has certain fringe benefits...I got a little sneak preview of The Goldstars first recording this week! I understand it's not quite done yet, but I've put MP3s and sound clips on the site any damn way. So we've got a new page for ya SOUNDS.
Hot Merrie gave me some groovy photos to post too and as soon as I recover from having too much damn fun (and a slight accident due to sexy footwear), I'll get those up here for ya.

hello fellas -- Hondo "DJ HEY NOW" McAllister, 12:44:32 09/02/02 Mon
Hi,
I was checking out the website and it seems pretty cool. I haven't heard the music but do you guys sound like the Hives? I really, really, really love the Hives. They are so hip. I mean, they are on MTV right? Please don't tell me "We have our own sound, and we are like no other band" Just tell me you sound like the Hives because they are cool. Lead singer Sal is not as pretty as the lead sing of the Hives. That disappoints me a little but I won't hold it against Sal. Sal's hair is funny-looking. But in a flaked-out way I dig that. One point for the Goldstars. But 16 points to the Hives because they rule.
I wish you guys good luck. I hardly think you'll be on TRL or even meet Carson for that matter, mostly because of your ages and the drummer has a super-silly name. It is unexceptable to have 30-something's in this the "boy-band" era.
You people seem to have a lot of heart and the wear-with-all. Hives you're not. Goldstars you are. God bless each and everyone of you good people. For the love of the good Lord your guitarist needs to trim it up a bit...eyebrows-down.
Good luck to ya's.
Hondie

DoBee! You rock for the photos of the gals and the bands. You guys were definitely one of the most amazing audiences we've had yet. And the pictures look great, despite the fact that you apparently caught me sniffing my armpit mid-song. How embarrassing - I didn't think anyone noticed...
I apologize to anyone else that was exposed to that particular fragrance, and I will reimburse you any emotional damage. It's why I'm called "Hot Mary," and not, say, "Smells Fresh Mary" or "Never Perspires Mary."

- Got Corn? -- DoBeeDeux, 16:53:40 08/25/02 Sun
Cornfest in DeKalb, Illinois...could there be a better event? I think not, especially when topped off with a rockin' show from The*Goldstars. After spending the day indulging in carnival rides and sweet corn, I'm usually pretty tired. But something about great tornados of bouncy rock music performed by excellent musicians who so obviously have a great time performing just snaps your energy tanks right back to full!
Though it was hot and sticky in the Underground at Otto's, the band put on one hell of a great show. Just a few minutes after they started, the crowd was bouncing around on the dance floor working up as much of a sweat as the band. No one cared though, we were having too much fun and the music is simply impossible to sit still through!! The Goldstars Go Go Girls boogied their tails off looking hot & sexy, as usual. The boys in the band were all over the stage...Sal waving his bass around punctuating the beats, Lane brandishing his guitar like the weapon it is, Goodtime's sticks flying through the air at the speed of light, & Skipper tippin' his keyboard back and forth while completely rocking out! Yeah, it was one hell of a show!
The next gig is at the Empty Bottle on Sept 20th! Details on the Gigs Page on the main site. Don't miss it!

- Welcome to the official Goldstars message board! -- DoBeeDeux, 16:36:24 08/25/02 Sun
Greetings fellow Goldstars groupies, go go girls, and goons (meant, of course, with love). I saw the Goldstars just last night at Otto's in DeKalb and one of the lovely go go girls mentioned that it could be big scoops of fun to have a Goldstars message board. Well, being the Goldstars' web diva, it's my job to make it so. Thus, here we are in Babblin' Brook a spot for us to babble about the music, the shows, the band, the myth, the soon-to-be-legend that is The*Goldstars.
So...get to it!
