i am wanting to try a system in ky, but the director is charging $85 for what would be a very small prelim and i have been with a friend so i know the awards that are given are very small. there arent many that are close to where we live, and this is right near where we are. can anyone give me an opinion as far as if that is high or not. i just kind of think it is for the very few things that are given, but maybe it is just me. we done another one in the same area with a different director, and the cost was $50, and the awards were really nice and the crowns and trophies were big. just torn on what to do. my little one wants to do a pageant, but like most families, things are tight during the holidays. i have money put back specifically for a Christmas pageant, but dont know if this is one i should spend it on. any help would be good.

- Prelims can run anywhere from $50-$150. I don't consider that out of line with other pageants we've done this year. Ultimately, you have to decide if you feel the rewards justify the cost. - If you are in the Hopkinsville to Bowling Green area and are not far from Rivergate Mall, you might want to try Sparkling Jewels. They have low fees, offer competition in Natural or Gltiz of both. You get Beauty and OOC and all optionals for $75 or $125 for both sides. They have said they are giving nice banners, crowns, gifts, every contestant receives award, $50 pageant cash for 2010 state pageant and will award bonds with 20 or more contestatns. - Pink board are bunch of crazy pageant drama trouble makers. Not a good place to go. Can't believe a lot of what you read on there anyway. The words they use alone can be shocking! - Checked a little of that board out, there is no way that person running the board should allow such trash, especially about children, shame on that board moderator!!!! how many vendors out there would like a place to list all those people who wrote you a bad check and never made good on it?
I am so sick of people writing me a bad check, then avoiding me and never paying. I think I am going to stop taking checks altogether. This pisses me off! If you don't have the money to pay for it, don't buy it!!
Other businesses do this, the even post the copy of the returned check on their wall. What a great way for vendors, directors, h/m people, photographers, coaches to try to get some of their money back.
If can't afford pageants, get out!!! It's not worth the embarrassment and humiliation that comes with deceiving people and then getting caught. You knew your check was bad when you wrote it. GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK!!!

- I know I am in the minority but I firmly believe a good fit, flatter and color will do as well as a pricey dress. We have stood next to MB dresses in our $500 dress and was told dd was the standout. I don't think you can skimp on quality. - I agree my daughter holds several national titles and I have never paid more than 500! One supreme national was won on a $250 dollar custom made glitz dress. - I have to say it does matter about clothes. Sure, you can win a national on a $500 dress, but it doesn't happen much, and it tends to be a smaller national with not as many kids there, or not all of your national kids there. If you take a $500 dress and put it up against all of the other girls national level dresses, it will loose most everytime. If you are planning on doing the national "circut" and compete quite a bit, you do need a more expensive dress. If you only do a few smaller national pageants, then a cheaper dress will work. My daughter has won MANY nationals and lots of over-all best dressed titles with our $600 full glitz dress, that I designed and decorated myself. Girls: 0-6 months, 7-12 months, 1-2 years old, 2-3 years old, 4-5 years old,
