Although the entire 400 acres will be used as an actively managed woodland, our primary concern for the area of the festival will be to please the eye. The goal will be to create dappled sunlight in a park like environment. A moderately populated forest is much healthier and more vibrant than one that is overstocked.
The festival site is overstocked with trees at a population of 200/acre. We are planning a timber stand improvement and commercial harvest in order to reduce this number to 70-80/acres which is considered optimal by professional foresters. The spaces in between the remaining trees should provide ample space for our buildings.
As fair skinned as I am I am VERY appreciative of shade and aware of it's value.
Thanks,
Jordan
