- Anyone remember Mick Sharpe? -- Aaron Jennings, 05:05:35 07/01/09 Wed
Hiya, does anyone remember Michael Sharpe, served from 1963-65? He'd like to get in touch with old friends, but he's not very tech-savvy I'm afraid, so I'm here on his behalf.

- New Web Site -- Terry St Pierre, 03:25:22 07/01/09 Wed
Well it's been a while since this guest book was used but as it was so popular and the new forum wasn't used a lot I have decided to incorporate this into the new site. I think that the forum has run it's course and we have given it a fair crack of the whip. If this site does work ok please use it.
You will also see that the reunion details are now on site and if the system works you shoul all have had an email with the details
Regards
Terry

- New Message Board -- Terry St Pierre, 08:41:35 03/03/09 Tue
Hi to all
Most of you are probably aware that the new site is now up and running and the site has its own message board built in.
This one will remain online for a while so the archives can be viewed. It would be a shame to lose all the history. I would encourage everyone to use the new site though. Please fill in the profile page. It is a great sight and with more use it will grow and get better still.
Thanks to Dave for all the time and effort spent so far and no doubt many man hours still to come.
Terry

Hi, firstly thanks to those of you who went on my son's site and expressed messages of support it is much appreciated. As regards the new site I have almost completed it ready for publishing and there will be many more facilities on it such as uploading your own photos as well as easy editing of your profile and contacting other members via private messaging. I am swapping hosting services this week so you might get a blank page for a day or two.

Hi everyone, I have been somewhat busy for the last 18 months as a combination of corrupt coppers and lousy lawyers has conspired to send my son to jail for something he did not do. There is a website that you can visit to see how police officers are treated in broken Britain. It is www.justice4kj.com and it tells a sorry tale of how an innocent man sits in jail today. Please visit it and register so that you can read all the stories about what happened.
On a happier note, I am building a new 27 site that will allow the uploading of photos and profiles etc. That should be up and running about the end of February all being well.

I ask because he married the sister of an old school mate of mine and we never really knew each other it was only by chance that he noticed the address on a letter I wrote home and he went round to see my parents when he was on leave.I was wondering what became of him as I moved out of the area many many moons ago

Ihave been playing around with some old and not so old photographs. I still have hundreds more but there are enough in the albumn to give you a taste of nostalgia.
These will all be linked to the Regimental site but for now go to the following link and enjoy.

I was wondering if any one had any info on a chap called Clem. He was a medic so as such was in HQ battery When I was in HQ in the early 70s he was quite a character and was well liked by all and i would like to find out what became of him I like most people who met him was happy to be in his company. He seemed timeless and i think he may have served at the end of the last war in 1945!! so he was I think about retiring age when we were both in HQ Battery.

Are you aware that there is a 27 Regt RA group on facebook, albeit the membership is quiet small, I left a message directing them to the official Regimental site as I am sure there are some who are not aware of it.
May I take this opportunity to wish everyone a "Merry Christmas" and a "Happy New year". This will of course be impossible for those who have recently lost loved ones, perhaps we should spare a thought for those who are no longer with us and their families at this time.

I have been advised by Terry St.P to use this contact site to try and find the whereabouts of a one Geordie Paul Thompson (Wife Monika). This is on behalf of an old mate in 1.RHA (B Bty) called John (Paddy) O'Leary, They served together in the Gun Park at RSA and were good friends, Paddy has tried RA records and pensions with no luck,so hopefully if someone out there knows please let him have my email.Thankyou.
Very much hoping to be at next Reunion.

Once again I have the sad duty to inform you of the death of a really great character within the regiment. Geordie Steele the reknown Regimental Restaraunt NCO of Napier Barracks Dortmund and the unforgettable Postie of Hopton Barracks Devizes finally recieved his wings last Thursday. Geordie passed away after a long illness and our thoughts go to his family at this sad time.

Just checked out the site sconey referred to,and joined the petition, when you consider some of the drastic mistakes made by immigration, and the amount of illegals they have 'lost' how they can then deny some of the best soldiers ever to serve the basic right to stay in the country they served they are not mercenaries they are british soldiers and our brothers in arms join the fight to let them stay

Hi Terry and Graham,
I did try to contact Brian Smart and I know he lives in Amesbury. I wrote him a letter but he never replied along with many others. I also wrote to Derek Vardy but again he doesn't seem to be interested. I see Percy Watts from time to time but he is another that is contented with his life the way it is. I suppose that its not everyone that wants to keep in touch. The site is here for those that do.

Hi to all that know me and after looking through the members list there are still a few. I joined the Regiment in 1967 in Devizes and left in 1982 when they where in Lippstadt. I left the regulars in 92 to work for the Army Cadet Force as a Quartermster and still in the post.Looking at some of the photo's in your album those of you I know havn't changed a bit!!!!! but then many years have passed since we have been in touch and I am only too pleased to see that the Regiment has its own site. Now I know where you have all been hiding I will keep in touch, best wishes and good health to you all.

You can now update and alter your own profile on the site and upload one repeat one image of yourself so that everyone can see how gracefully you have all aged. Please follow the instructions on the site so that there are fewer hiccups and let me have your feedback please.

Terry,
What can one say that has not been said already, old & new faces this time - what comraderie, what banter & what friendship – typical Army friendship & second to none in my opinion & I second that civvies just don't understand that bond between us all.
As I said it was great to see so many old faces & Dee & I had a fantastic weekend & we can't wait for the next one.
I hope me singing & jokes didn't put anyone off for the next one but it was typical 6 Bty to goad someone in to doing it.
Great to see you & Carmel again as it was many others & again I would second that more ex & old officers should hopefully understand what they are missing & how well the reminiscing goes that they attend in future.
Good luck to all & we’ll see you at the next one.
Mad (Mick Dee)

John you were bloody quick. If I hadn't stopped to mow the lawn I would have beaten you to it. What can one say. Thank you all for coming, it was the best yet. The atmosphere was electric when I arrived on Friday and the cameraderie just continued all weekend. The civvies couldn't comprehend what it was all about, they haven't experienced such friendship and they were very complimentary. There were lots of rumours that this was the last one, well thats what they were, just rumours. It was obvious that you all want a repeat performance so we will have another in 2010.
I thank you all for making the weekend special and it was my pleasure to do the arrangements.
I would like to single out two people who support us no matter what their agenda and they are General Burton and Lt Col Claydon. We sadly lack officer support at these functions and their appearance is very much appreciated. ( Lt Col Comben please dont take umbridge at that remark as we consider you one of us)
I hope you all had a safe journey back and once again it was my pleasure
Regards

- Re-Union -- John Clarke, 07:47:03 06/09/08 Mon
Just got back from a wonderful weekend at Weston. I want to thank Terry for all his hard work organising it. It was great meeting old friends again, the years just disapeared, it was like we were all together only yesterday and we couldn't have had better weather.
Once again thank you Terry.

- Site Maintenance -- Terry St Pierre, 23:15:32 06/02/08 Mon
The site is being worked on this week and it may not be possible to log on at times. The work is essential to improve the site and to prepare it for its handover from Dave to myself. By the end of the week all should be back to normal.
For those that are going to the reunion drive safely and I'll see you there. For those that havent made up there minds or are sitting on the fence, there are still rooms available so pick up the phone and come and have a good time.
Regards
Terry

- site maintenance -- Dave Abbott, 07:12:21 05/20/08 Tue
Hi everyone, I will be doing some site maintenance over the next few weeks which might mean the site does not work properly at times. I will be putting in a feature that will enable you to upload your own photos to the site and increasing the security slightly. I will also be introducing some admin features for Terry.
Unfortunately my wife and I can not come to the reunion due to circumstances beyond our control so have a great time and see you next time hopefully.

- 56 Battery -- Ian Calvert, 15:34:35 03/01/08 Sat
Hi, I'm writing a message on behalf of my colleague who doesn't have internet access; Ian Calvert who was ex 56 Bty. in the mid 70's. Anyone who remembers Ian and would like to contact him, can do so via the above email. I have shown him some of the photos from the site re: the N.I. tour of 74/75 and he recognises and named quite a few of you; so he knows you guys!!
I am also an ex Gunner (12 AD Regt.) and the Blogmaster of Napier Barracks, Dortmund: http://napierbarracksdortmund.blogspot.com/

No itinary for the weekend. Nothing organised or formal. A casual weekend for like minded people to have a drink chat and enjoy themselves. Dress smart casual. If you want to suit and boot thats also fine. I would think the ladies would like to dress up a bit on the Saturday night though.

- Reunion -- pete smith, 12:20:40 05/01/08 Thu
Terry, thanks for organising the coach trip, great, can't wait lol. Is there an itinery for the weekend at all, and is there any particular night we need to dress up a bit more (ie. regimental tie etc)? I'm more than happy to appear as a member of the cast of 'Shameless' but not if everyone else is suited and booted, Saturday night for example?
Looking forward to the weekend, Coventry was excellent, this should be even better given the proximity of the qualities of the area.
Regards

- Surprise Visitor -- Brian Bethell, 00:30:55 02/29/08 Fri
Bugger me! There we were, Sue and I, settling down to a quiet evening last night when a knock came to the door; Rocky Hudson and his brothers came to call!!
Perhaps not too surprising to some, but he lives in the North of England, and we live in New Zealand! I can only put it down to taking the wrong turn-off from the A1(M); happens to us all..
Anyway, it was great to see him, he's over here as best man for his brother's wedding and had a spare hour or two to kill. He brought us up to date with all the news that he was aware of - and he didn't even go near my beer supply. (and yes, it was Rocky - we checked his ID!)
Yes Anne, he behaved like a gentleman, even though Sue answered the door in her nightie...
Anyway, we're packing our things and heading north in a couple of months, and hope to catch up with the rest of our friends at Weston Super Mare!!

- Premiership Footy -- Stan the Man, 03:07:57 04/12/08 Sat
Hi all
For those of you that don't want too wait for Match of the Day or Football First on a Saturday.
Watch Premiership football on the NET for FREE.
Go to http://www.myp2p.eu then click the software tab, scroll down the page and you will see the software required.
Download TVAnts and Sopcast these are the two main programs, (remeber to reboot you machine after downloading the programs).
To run program,
Go back to http://www.myp2p.eu, go to Live Sport. Select the sport you want i.e. football from the list, then the game or match.
On the left hand side you will see all the stations that are running that game, double click on the the television picture on the far right of the page that has TVAnts or Sopcast and wait for it to load and your away.
With Sopcast you have to scroll and select the game again from the channel list once it has loaded.
With TVAnts just wait for it to load, be patient it will take a couple of minutes too load. If one channel does not work then try another.
All games run about 2/3 minutes behind.
She will never get you away from the machine on a Saturday afternoon any more Ha! Ha!
All the best
Stan the Man

- 132 BTY -- Malcolm Bowen, 08:23:13 04/11/08 Fri
As a belated newcomer to this site I have just read about JIMMY NEIL'S 65th birthday party, it has to be the Jimmy I knew from 1965 to? I left in 1971. Did he ever forfill his wish to bite someones ear off? I also note with dismay that 132 had a reunion I wish I had known, are there any out there who remember me Malcolm Bowen (Bow or Badger) I was E subs driver 1969/1971. Does anybody from the Bty remember Vern the Gern and the answer from the days in Borneo,if you lads are out there please get in touch

- URGENT PLEASE READ!!!!!!! -- thomas duxbury, 07:40:30 04/06/08 Sun
I am posting this and taking it at face value. It came to me via a reliable source and besides all warnings should be heeded...better safe than sorry.
You should be alert during the next few days. Do not open any message with an attachment entitled 'POSTCARD,' regardless of who sent it to you. It is a virus which opens A POSTCARD IMAGE, which 'burns' the whole hard disc C of your computer. This virus will be received from someone who has your e-mail address in his/her contact list. This is the reason why you need to send this e-mail to all your contacts. It is better to receive this message 25 times than to receive the virus and open it.
If you receive a mail called' POSTCARD,' even though sent to you by a friend, do not open it! Shut down your computer immediately.
This is the worst virus announced by CNN. It has been classified by Microsoft as the most destructive virus ever. This virus was discovered by McAfee yesterday, and there is no repair yet for this kind of virus. This virus simply destroys the Zero Sector of the Hard Disc, where the vital information is kept.
COPY THIS E-MAIL, AND SEND IT TO YOUR FRIENDS. REMEMBER: IF YOU SEND IT TO THEM, YOU WILL BENEFIT ALL OF US

That is indeed the regimental flag. I will watch it and maybe put a bid on it for the association. I know Chick Munroe has an original which is encased and in excellent condition but wouldn't hurt to have another.

I would like to thank all of you that have registered on the new site. Unfortunately that ia a total of 140 out of thousands. One of the biggest problems of running the OCA is keeping a current list of names and addresses. It would help me enormously if you would take a couple of minutes to log on and register. Please pass this on with the site details to mates in order to spread the word.
Many thanks
