I think I have replied to your inquiry before but in case I didn't, I'm adding some info now. Ross Howard was my first cousin (My grandparents were Julia & Enoch Tyson Holton.) Your great-aunt, Audrey, may be right. I was alway told that we were Cherokee but after taking some classes in cultural diversity that dealt a lot with the Native American ancestories, geographically and historically it seem unlikely because of the birth location of the family that we are totally Cherokee. There is a strong possibility that our family was Tuscarora Indian. In an attempt to trace ancestory I ran into a brick wall because I was told I would need the Indian name and the tribal roll number of my great-grandmother - information I wasn't able to obtain. My grandmother, Julia Ann Caton - was NOT full Cherokee. I was 12 when she died and did spent much time with her in my childhood. Your grandmother, Annie Lou Holton, married Roy Hopson (from Texas) later in life. She had a fantastic sense of humor and liked to write short comical poems. Hope this has helped some although it may have just added to you confusion. Third Cousin, Connie
