I am researching my family history and found that my great grand father is half Native American (either Mohawk or Mohegan).

He was born in 1856-1858 in NY. It does not say what county but he lived in Corning from 1892-1900 + (from census).

His name is Mike Maley and his wife was Louisa Peck.

After asking around with my family it seems he is more likely to be Mohawk as my grandmother had tales of her grandmother being born close to the St Lawrence river so I would be the ties to the St Regis Mohawks but because I have no real proof of ties to the tribe I have no idea where to start.

Any info or direction is appreciated.

If you have any
