I had my DNA done and it shows a very small amount of American Indian DNA. I have always been told that my 2x great grandmother was part Indian.(No proof) My family was from Johnson County, Ky. Some of them were listed as Ind. in the 1860 census and then W. in the 1870. Why was the race changed?

I am wondering if there are any known surnames from that area of Eastern Ky that I could search to try to find out where my Indian DNA came from?

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
