Hi! I have been researching my genealogy almost every day in the past few months. There are several Choates in relation to Cherokee ancestry! One of those would be Moses Choate, who married Mary Star Sanders, who subsequently had several children, one of which is Silas (Oo ta te yin tah) Choate, and Sanders Choate, who are well known Cherokee Choates. You might know all of this by now :) I am descended from Vesta Zipporah Choate, who I do not believe has any Cherokee blood, although her mother, Prudence, is said to have been the daughter of Standing Turkey, or Stalking Turkey, for which I can not find ANY proof!! Every website, forum, etc that I have visited says the same of her heritage, but offer no proof. I would love to find proof either way! Good luck with your research! If you have any information in regards to Christopher Choate and his wife "Prudence," the parents of Moses & James (the ones that married Cherokee women), and many other children, I would love to be in communication with another distant Choate relative :) Take Care, Liz I.
