23rd Air Depot Group 423rd Quartermaster Platoon 1942-1943 -- CBI & Combat Cargo Groups

Subject: 23rd Air Depot Group 423rd Quartermaster Platoon 1942-1943

In search of info on the 23rd Air Depot Group located in California and Nevada during 1942-1943. My Dad was William C. Davis (also went by Bill)from the Texas and Oklahoma area. He was in the 423rd Quartermaster Platoon during this time frame. According to him he went through Desert Training while deployed out west. Searching for anyone who might have known him or have info on this group. He was at Tonapah, McCellan Field, Sacramento, and San Bernardino from August 1942-September 1943 at which time he was deployed overseas and arrived in Scotland in October 1943. Names of some of those that he served with are Yackel, Dewey Braddock, and Bremmer. While overseas in the ETO he said he went through the war with Glen Smothermon from California and spoke of Hawkshaw and Dohle. Have some photos from his milatary hitch from Keesler Field, Tonapah, Death Valley, Scotty's Castle, and Crookham Common Station 429 while with the 26th Mobile Reclamation & Repairing Squadron. Any help or guidence is appreciated.
